Neither do I right now. He’s had a hot bat the last 2-3 weeks. It also wouldn’t surprise me if the lights turned off for the next 2-3 weeks for him. That’s just how he rolls.

Bingo

I wish they only had 5 utility type guys.

Nothing wrong with some optimism.

Can’t say I share it, unfortunately. IMO, the most likely outcome is things get worse before they get better, and at this time next year they’ll be dealing the best they can with the fallout of TEN years of pretty much incompetent leadership. (And/or a prolonged work stoppage.) But, hopefully with a much younger roster, so there can be a somewhat realistic reason to at least HOPE things will get better.

I agree.  Leadership right now isn't any better than what we had.

Don’t want to tune my own horn here, but I think I’m a huge Yohan Santana fan more than most here…. Yojan Santana was amazing. Loved Yo-Hawn Santana 😉

What are your thoughts on Dug Mintkayvitch?

On the postgame show they said they want to limit Prielipps innings. They might even shut him down for a stretch. They dont want to damage such a valuable arm. Cough, cough.

I have zero issues with Clemens

For me, the issue isn't Kody Clemens.  He's one of the best 390 (30x13) position players in the world, and therefore belongs on an MLB roster somewhere.

The issue is what his usage rate says about the rest of the roster.

He's a low AVG hitter with spurts of good-to-very-good OPS.  He can play several defensive positions ranging in quality from passable to pretty good.  On a good team, that's a utility player.  On a really good team, he might even be expendable.  But with this bunch, he's been one of the better hitters.  The fact that that doesn't bode well for the team as a whole isn't his fault; he's maximizing his abilities.  But that doesn't change the fact that this team won't be meaningfully competitive until he's closer to the bottom of the performance ledger.

They're different players, but it's the same general concept with Arraez.  He's been pretty much the best version of himself this season, might even be an All-Star.  But the fact that he's been their best hitter is a big reason why the Giants have been terrible.  On a good team, he's a complementary piece setting up the truly valuable hitters.  But you can't be a good team when someone like Arraez is your best hitter, just like you're not a good team if Clemens is getting starter-level PAs.  It's not a knock on them directly, but their usage is a bellwether for the quality of your roster.

Tigers, look to get right against the even worse, Minnesota Twins. They just won  four out of five and took the series against the Mariners. Not much to like about this club right now.

Your last sentence rings true especially for me as a lifelong fan dating back to the early 70s.  Making matters worse is living in the KC suburbs surrounded by listless bandwagon Royal fans who are taking winning 3 of 4 as a sign their ready to get back in the division race.  Knew going into this season it would be miserable, but this last series seriously ticks me off as I see VERY LITTLE energy, life and fight from this group.  Too old to invest any of my time to an ownership group that doesn't care.  Also, pretty fed up with far too many players that accept losing with nonchalant demeanor.

I think you could copy and paste this for many of the current inexperienced pitchers on the staff.  Morris, Adams, Paredes, and even Prielipp would fit this definition.  Some, or all of them, should likely be sent back down to St Paul when Abel, Sands, and Ober are ready to come off of the IL.  These pitchers eventually being sent back down doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't do a good job.  It is more of a just a learning curve that will need to be addressed before coming back up and hopefully be the pitcher that they had expected.  I am in the optimist camp with these pitchers although it doesn't look good now.  I would rather have these guys up and in the bullpen than when the next Luis Garia pops up on the waiver wire.

Well, I agree with you to some extent. Neither Adams nor Paredes has anywhere near the talent of a Morris or Prielipp but the inexperience and lack of innings does make a difference when facing MLB hitters. The problem is that the Twins organization was put in a bad spot and they were mol forced to call up both Morris and Prielipp. Sands isn't much to talk about but Abel, if he is fully healthy, and Ober would allow for some renewed AAA work for Morris and Prielipp. Abel isn't likely to be ready until late in June at the earliest. I'm glad there is another optimist out there.
