A’s designated hitter Brent Rooker will undergo surgery to repair cartilage damage in his left knee, reports Martín Gallegos of MLB.com. He’ll miss the remainder of the season.

Amazingly, against the Twins, he's 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA, 15 hits in 8 innings, 3 BB 5 K.

That's Webster's definition of "humility."

Old friend Sonny Gray is 9-1 with the lowly RedSox. ERA 2.69. Not bad for a 36 yr old.

So he's been that much better against everyone else? Good for him.

I'm still waiting for the Sox to make life interesting for the rest of the East, and draw comparisons to the miracle Braves...

Strange things like that can happen to them after sweeping the Yankees, to a team representing the locales of Stephen King and HP Lovecraft.

When are teams going to learn… If they weren’t worth our time, they’re worth nobody’s time… 🫣

Ronny Henriquez, Brent Headrick, Steven Okert. I'm sure there are others. It's hit and miss with a lot of relievers. I do believe Topa is cooked, but I thought the same with Okert and he's done well two straight seasons for the 'Stros.

After the Twins success against the Evil Empire this weekend, former Twin Griffin Jax gave up 3 runs over 5 IP and took the L in the Rays 5-1 loss to NYY tonight...

Schlittler, like Ryan, had a nice bounce back game: 8 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 8/0 K/BB.

Really not sure if this is the right thread for this but, Darrell Jackson died this month. He had a pretty short career all with the Twins in the 70s and early 80s. He had one year where he mostly started and worked over 170 innings for a poor Twins team, finishing 9-9 with a 3.87 ERA. Another former player who is younger than me deceased.

Yeah this is the right thread for players who die. I remeember him vaguely, as I go back to Hrbek's debut in 1981 as far as what I recall seeing/hearing games.

Jorge Polanco activated by the Mets.
