Has there EVER been a SLOWER runner than Correa in the history of this organization?

My only answer in recent history (last 20 years) is the immortal Matthew LeCroy.

I know Correa has dealt with his fair share of lower body injuries, but he's got to be the SLOWEST active mlb starting SS.

“Slow” = Timmy Laudner - Killebrew in last 6/7 years of his career ……….. CC seems to be pumping those arms and running 🏃 under water. He also seems to choose what/where it’s appropriate for him to end up VERY early in the action.

Loved how Zebby pounded the strike zone last night.  Also liked his pace which seemed faster than most.  If memory serves, he was a lot like this his first couple times out last year.

Question?  Was last night a glimpse of what may come next year and beyond?

I watched the Lewis double and did not expect the runner to score from first. Hard line drive to left field that the fielder handled well. You expect a score on a double in the gaps but this was a shorter throw home than a ball in the gap. EV 106.4 and LA 16 one hop to the fence. Not a lot of air time to get home.

If you watched it live and had a different take in that moment I can respect that. It is hard to respect an after the fact take.

All of this Correa nonsense is overshadowing a great start by Zebby.

I watched it live and the only Twin I would have expected to score might have been Buxton, because he's really fast and can turn it on quickly. It was a hard-hit double and fielded well. The disappointing part of that inning was Bader striking out and not getting a ball to the OF.

Correa is slow. What may or may not surprise you is that all of  Larnach, Lee, Jeffers, France, and Vazquez are actually slower. No longer a Twins, Miranda, is much slower than all of the above. Then to emphasize the relative speed of the team, Lewis, Bride, Gasper, and Wallner are all only a tick faster (or is less slow) than Correa. Seager and Bichette are the two shortstops slower than Correa. Source: Statcast.com.

Agreed. I don't know if any runners score from 1st on that double.

Which, of course, doesn't mean Correa isn't slow.

mlbtraderumors posted about Yankees interest in Willi Castro. I imagine they aren't the only ones.

Yankees just traded for Rockies Ryan McMahon  , they are interested in Donovan from the cardinals  ,  I'm sure they still might have some interest in Castro , but do they have any real talent in their system left for a decent return ???

For 3 months of Castro? Yes, they have prospects that are worth that much.

Brooks Lee is slower and on the team right now.

Yep and would also guess France and Larnach are about the same. Geez I think there is a pattern here……

I would argue that even if Correa is faster than Vazquez, Vazqy runs harder to first base.  Sometimes appearance make a difference.

Yes, Vasquez, to his credit, runs harder than Correa. Carlos is a big drink of water (6' 4") with long legs and strides, but he has lapsed into a permanent 3/4 speed, lope-mode on all "sure out" balls in play. I can't imagine it's laziness because a man of his obvious accomplishments doesn't succeed without pride and perseverance. He has, of course, a number of problems such as plantar fasciitis and a chronically bad right ankle that led to contract voidances, and I'm sure that's why he's become a loper--but yeah, it looks awful.

But that old school "M" with a swipe underscore is a look that NEVER should have gone away!

I like it too!
