stringer bell Verified Member Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 Provus announced that Paul Bunyan Communications was adding Twins games on a channel (558) for the 2025 season. I presume this will be the model for other cable operations. I'm not sure if they'll be on the same channel for everyone. Does MLB have to negotiate with every cable outfit in Twins Territory and also does the cable operator set the price and terms? I have friends who are wondering how they'll get their Twins on TV this year despite the news that mlb.tv was carrying Twins games. Edit to add: Paul Bunyan Communications is in northern Minnesota, covering an area from Bemidji to Grand Rapids. I googled them and they announced the Twins were coming to Paul Bunyan Communications. There is no indication about an additional charge to watch the games.

But usually they still come mostly all at once.

It's Monday on the week of Opening Day now. I assumed that I was being ignorant and had simply missed news about what channel this would be on Xfinity AND whether or not it will be included in one of the add-on tiers many of us likely set up years ago, specifically so that we would have access to FSN, Bally, etc. This is a friggin' mess. I'm in my 40's and not completely technologically inept. The demographic of people who would be (a) still really into baseball; and (b) reliant on a cable provider to show Twins games skews quite a bit older than me. How the heck are they supposed to figure out when and where to watch the games if it changes every year, changes within the year as it did with the surprise May 1st blackout last season, and then isn't resolved days before the start of the new season. There are like 1500 channel slots on Xfinity X1 service. Are they expecting that your 75-year-old grandfather will just thumb around by accident and locate the Twins TV channel they may or may not be paying for in the mid-600's while channel surfing? My Xfinity bill creeps up so embarrassingly high, I'm tempted to dump the whole thing over stuff like this. My wife and daughter rely on it less and less compared to streaming options as time goes on. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade option if you have the MLB.TV All Teams Yearly Subscription ($149) to include the local team for the bundle ($199), if you are already signed up? My plan was obviously to watch the Twins on TV, since I believed I was already "paying for" it. If that turns out not to be the case, or if I cancel cable, it looks like my next option is to pay the $99 just to add the Twins (or $19.99/month), which seems like an unattractive option.

This prediction, predictably, is proving to be very active. Haha. I don't interact in person with a lot of Twins fans, but I just feel this weird indifference about the team. Which is discordant with an team that has good rotation/bullpen, reasonable star power for a mid-market team, and a decent chance of sniffing the postseason if a few things break right. I think the ownership/sale situation, annual injuries, uncertainty about how to watch the team, and (especially) the lack of investment in the on-field product have really worn on the fanbase. amjgt Verified Member Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Do we know how Twins.TV will work with nationally televised games? This Saturday, for example, the game is on FS1. Will it also be on Twins.TV? Will it be on the special channels set up on all of the cable/satellite services? Same question, but for the Apple TV games that we will inevitably get throughout the season.

amjgt Verified Member Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Hilarious that the 2nd game that would ever be on Twins.TV won't be on. Hilarious in a "you can't make it up" kind of way.

I believe games on FOX would also be exclusive but those are broadcast over the air anyway.

This might work for tomorrow as the often unblock the 1st week. But it's also supposed to be on 668 or 668-3 as the "normal channel". But 668 is still FanDuel and 668-3 doesn't show up for me. 668-1 and 668-2 still show as FanDuel channels as well. It's entirely unclear what, if any channel it will actually be on. Really terrible job all around by the Twins, MLB and DirecTV.

whitsbrain Verified Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I still have Comcast/Xfinity because a member of my household won't let go of it. Having to pay to stream the Twins games outside of the disgustingly high fees I already pay to Xfinity makes me want to puke, almost to the point of telling MLB and the Twins to F-off. But I subscribed to stream "Twins.tv" for $99 anyway because I weirdly enjoy being abused by the Twins. If folks didn't know, Twins.tv is just a name for the coverage on the MLB.tv service, so you're really just subscribing to MLB.tv. Just to add what I understand because I'm sick of this (I've nearly had marriage ending arguments because I want to cancel Xfinity), Xfinity carries FanDuel but the Twins don't have an agreement with FanDuel. That ship has sailed so if you are waiting for that to happen, it won't. I saw the announcement about the Twins being carried on Xfinity channel 1261, but I can't believe that they would just include it as part of a basic channel offering or even as a part of the existing "Sports tier" that they make you pay extra for. It's probably something being offered so you easily watch by tuning into channel 1261 AFTER you've paid the extra $19.99/mo. to watch the Twins.
djvang Verified Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I'm seeing in on channel 1261 on Xfinity now. We already have whatever sports tier Bally's/FanDuel are on. I did not pay for Twins.TV so apparently Xfinity just added it to the existing tier. DJL44 1
Trov Verified Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 So if I get the all MLB team streaming that will not cover the Twins? I thought they said they are not "blacking out" local games if you had the MLB streaming? My wife was going to sign up anyways to watch her team, not the Twins, but I assumed I would be able to watch the Twins. So to watch the Twins you need to pay an extra fee. Wow, just wow. I will refuse to do so. If I cannot watch most games, whatever. I used to be a watched just about every game fan, but this whole thing is BS. I do not care that the price is like 75 cents a game for the extra fee. This is not what they claimed when they went to streaming. The claim was no blackouts anymore, meaning if you had MLB full team streaming we should be able to watch right. Guess not. I was also told they would find channels on local cable. Well looks like in southern MN Spectrum does not have Twins. I knew this would be a S show, but it is worse than I expected. Opening day, and I will not see any of them I guess.

Battle ur tail off Verified Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 How do we watch these greedy bastards if you have Youtube TV? Anyone know? How about Direct Tv? Or do you just have to pony up the extra to stream them? If so, I'm out on the season. What a terribly run franchise and so sad to see what they've done to their fans.

jctwins Verified Member Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 MLB.TV has definitely changed some of their infrastructure across the board. The Twins broadcast access was pretty stable yesterday but I had several cases where my MLB TV subscription just didn't work. Also worth noting they took a page out of the Sonos playbook and added about three taps to get to watching the game, replacing what used to happen in one tap. Over engineering by non-users at its worst.
