Who would've predicted that Cole Sands would become an important and DEPENDABLE part of this pitching staff this season after two seasons of less than stellar performance?

For those not aware---Sands has put up the following numbers this season:

W-L record:  6-1

WHIP:  0.99!...this after a +1.50 last season

ERA:  3.23---a full half of a run better than last season (3.74)

Most impressive is his K to BB ratio:

64 K's over 56.67 IP------------walks for the season= 8

With my limited math skills that is an outstanding ratio of 8:1

Keep it going Cole!

You're right about your math skills.  8 walks in 57 innings is a 7:1 ratio.

Can’t be too cocky - pretty sure that after 2 deep starts his ERA is sub 2.00? Just hoping for a W.

Two starts, 9.2 innings, 2.97 ERA.

I wouldn't think Mahle will go more than six innings, perhaps less. The Twins have done a good job of scoring late to secure victories, but I'd welcome an early offense and comfortable win.

A really nice win putting them in position to sweep. Pretty great way to start a road trip. Bullpen has been doing great work lately and Henriquez giving 2 good innings made a real difference with the bullpen having some of their top guys unavailable. Like seeing Sands put in such an efficient inning to end the game especially after pitching the day before.

Only 2 games back of Cleveland!

Did you use your immaculate spell-checker or a off-brand one like Rocco prefers?

Thanks for pointing out my typing error.  It's kind of exciting to be the first TD poster to make a spelling error.

I should probably use the spell checker that use for your grammer checking:

Bullpen is starting to look a lot better since the break. Jax and Alcala are beasts out there, with Duran pitching better lately as well. The two big surprises for me are Sands and now possibly Henriquez. Good two innings for him last night. Hopefully he can build on that and become another dependable late inning arm. I'm guessing Roccos going to try to protect Festa, Zebby and Varland from pitching to lineups the second or third times through, which means a lot of 5 inning starts. Bullpens going to have to pitch a lot of innings. I really wish we could find a lefty or two, either in our system or the MLB waiver wire to replace Theilbar and Okert. Pitching from the left side is our one real bullpen weakness.

Thanks for the correction - I have edited my less-than-emakulit post to reflect it.

Kepler’s double to get Santana to 3B & then Farmer’s sac fly created a nice cushion.

Bullpen came up big with Jax & Duran off for the night.

Ronny Henriquez!!

Castro keeps up his steady play - not always flashy but he helps the Team win games day in & day out. Last night it was the big play in the 9th from the hole at SS & tonight a 2 RBI single…….he’s really been a key piece.

Didn’t get to see Festa pitch but it appears he was solid enough for 5 innings.

A sweep would be a nice shot of momentum going into next week!

No love for Julien?

You may be right, but I was referencing K/BB ratio, not BB/IP.

64 K's vs. 8 walks IS a 8-1 ratio.

Your math is correct.

Something is wrong with Lewis.  You can see it with his hitting and his defense.

It looks like he can't get his legs working together, and it hampers all his baseball moves, especially throwing across the diamond and trying to hit for power.

He's been hitting a lot of weak ground balls to the left side.  And his throws just look pathetic.

Meanwhile his average and OPS are sinking, while his defense tumbles below average.

Great kid, unlimited potential, but, at this point, he may need a break.

My eye test  detect the same

The White Sox have skewed the maths for everyone 😂

The White Sox have been one of the Twins and Royals best ally.  While going 1-12 vs the Twins and Royal they are

5-5 vs Cle 3 games left

2-2 vs Bos 3 games left

2-3 vs Hou 1 game left

1-5 vs NYY

0-4 vs Balt 3 games left

I forgot about reading.  I was just looking at math.  😁
