Dobnak Makes It Back

We got him. Hang the banner in Target Field. The Dobber, Randy Dobnak inspiring Uber drivers, and champions alike since 2019. Let's go! J/k. Hopefully he pitches alright and can help. Long journey, but he worked his way back. Maybe he can capture some old magic.

According to Phil Miller of the Strib, Randy posted that he is back with the big club. No official announcement by the Twins yet.

I guess we've reached the "we couldn't make a trade, so here's a warm and fuzzy story instead" portion of the season. But hey, at least they're diving in their own dumpster for a change.

What's more concerning here is Stewart. If he's going back to the IL, with his injury history, you have to wonder if he's back at all in 2024.

The Twins don’t have to give up anything to bring back the Dobber.    A lefty reliever would be nice if the process right.

Dobnak is with the big club to piggy-back with Festa tonight, they both may be back in St. Paul tomorrow.

So the trade deadline is at 5 PM and first pitch tonight is at 6:10 PM. With nothing announced, you'd have to presume the Twins don't want to make anything official until they're sure they won't have a roster issue with a new player. 

So I'm guessing they told Dobnak to head over to Minneapolis instead of St. Paul today, but they're holding off with an announcement on the slim chance that something better breaks right for them?

Tonight's game is in Flushing, NY and the Saints are in Des Moines, Iowa....

I think the Dobnak move was happening regardless. They need a long reliever to piggyback Festa and Sands likely not available today.

This makes sense. Also, Dobnak has been doing pretty well of late, so maybe in piggy back/long relief it might be okay?

Well then it sounds like Minneapolis is a safe place for them to stick Dobnak.

The Royals are finalizing a deal to acquire right-hander Lucas Erceg from the Athletics, per Jeff Passan of ESPN on X. The other components of the deal aren’t publicly known at this time.

Royals have had a nice deadline. They'll leapfrog the Twins in the standings before long. But, in fairness, it is hard to compete with a big market team like Kansas City.

Guardians and Royals are making moves to help their playoff chances. The Twins added Randy Dobnak, and we have Joe Mauer Hall of Fame plaques to look forward to on Saturday. We are winning the pole position. This is like adding Brian Duensing from the IL on the Terry Ryan memorial trade deadline day. Thank you Joe Pohlad.
