Someone mentioned future opponents may bring up a lefty or 2 to face the Twins. This is a real possibility. Roccos not the only guy who uses analytics. Other teams are surely noting as to this is how to beat the Twins. The Twins are wrecking the Kirbys Gilbert's and big name starters. It's the soft tossing lefties doing them in, or so it seems

What the hell is this lineup? It’s time for heads to roll (though it won’t matter unless the Pohlad’s sell). Kepler is now sitting 2 games in a row even though he’s hit lefties well this season. If the twins were stacking quality righties, fine, but they have the 3 worst hitters in baseball in the lineup, with one of them leading off.

This was supposed to be an exciting season and Joe Pohlad turned it into my least tuned into season of the past 5 years. I know others feel the same way. It’s a good thing MN sports have bright futures because the Twins don’t with these people in charge.

My thoughts exactly - What in Gods name is this lineup. Margot leading off?!? Who is going to defend Baldelli on this one?

Falvey. Maybe?@USAFChief is probably right. Margot will get 3 hits. And Rocco can pat himself on the back for ONE right decision

Rocco: "Rubes don't like Margot hitting third? Fine, howsabout leadoff, geniuses? How ya like me NOW??"

If at first you don't succeed, try.

Out of curiosity, how has Margot done in lead off before?

Hate to interject happiness into a thread and spoil the news, but... Royce Lewis was running the bases today. Paparesta's comments from other sources suggest Lewis could start a rehab assignment Friday.

AB's during the 7-game losing streak:

Margot: 15

Vazquez: 13

Farmer: 11

Total 39

Kepler: 16

Larnach: 13

Julien: 18

Total 47

After tonight, group A will likely  have more AB's. But why is the offense struggling?

I’m with you, but the answer to the question is only Margot? That explains a lot.

Once I saw Margot was leading off had to hop on and join the conversation.   Be interesting to see the analytic report that led to this decision.   Doubling down and putting your worst hitter at the top of the order?  I have not seen much sign of life from his bat - coupled with his defensive stats are not good either.  Who knows maybe this jumps starts something.    The other thought that crossed my mind is that in the old days it was sometimes mentioned that having a lefty or two in the line-up forces the pitcher to have to change their approach and maybe that can get them out of sync.  Not sure if any modern day analytics support that and that would likely differ from pitcher to pitcher.     I would rather take my chances with Kepler in the line-up versus a lefty than see Margot out there - don't think that is helping our offense or defense.

About all I can offer is that he's been slapping quite a few singles lately. Maybe he gets on and we luck out. The Jeffers leadoff experience was a royal flop.

The owners deliberately made this years team worse than last years team. They forced the front office to trade for damaged players and for players opposing teams were willing to pay a large amount of salary for the Twins to take them off of their roster. This is the team Rocco has to play games with. I keep being reminded of the "inning eater"pitchers Terry Ryan used to trade for. Why not just come out and say it?.......we have to play 9 innings so we need SOMEBODY on the field.

That's as close to defending Rocco as I will get. His press conferences are as exciting as white bread. I can imagine his locker room presence isn't much more exciting.

PS. That's a lot of joints. (or is it just one big staff?)

I wish someone in the media would ask Rocco the question because there's no reasonable explanation.

See where Duran , said he wanted to throw Fastballs , at least we now know it comes from the Bench,, Poor Rocco didnt like it  - Well Rocco alot of us want you gone Now, Zero in game feel -zero emotion - Press are worried Rocco will cut em off from access , They are Cowards

I don't think anyone on the bench actually called that pitch.

What I think is that the Twins, as an organization, are in love with breaking balls. I think they encourage their catchers to call for a lot of them and their pitchers to throw a lot of them.

This is on Falvey, he wasted his resources on players like Santana and Margot.  Remember last year they wasted $11m on Gallo.  At some point ownership is going to ask for better results when raising the budget and Falvey has not delivered on that.

Rocco made it sound like it was discussed when Maki went out there for a mound visit.  I don't think the pitchers get much say in what they throw or at least they don't feel like they do.
