Vazquez has the 4th-best xwOBA on the team behind Lewis, Correa and Kirilloff. That's because everyone else has been so dreadful. Not a notable achievement. USAFChief 1

Whitey333 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Vazquez? I know the eye test doesn't matter anymore. My eyes don't deceive me. He's just not very good. With Correa out and Buxton not in todays starting lineup, looks like a minor league lineup. Who knows maybe it will work. Buxton is only hitting around 220 with 0 homeruns and 5 RBI. The great Carlos Santana is hitting all of .114 with 0 homeruns and 1 RBI. Good luck Twins RpR and CCHOF5yearstoolate 1 1

There has been promise in Vázquez' plate appearances, but the results have been minimal. His throwing has been outstanding, but again, small sample size. The Twins have gotten the calls and great tags to turn those plays into outs. Correa has looked very good, in all facets of the game. At 29, this should be a peak season for him. With REPLAY there are no “fortunate” calls anymore……other than balls & strikes. I’ve watched maybe 6 games and have seen him throw out 3 guys, minimum. He’s only caught 3 of the games. He’s not a solid hitter any longer but he keeps working at it & if he hits .230 and plays solid defense he’s a good piece for the Twins……..IT IS EARLY, you’re right …………whether he was paid $4.5 million or $10 million it doesn’t change the rest of the Team’s roster………Correa’s salary (not complaining) is the restrictive number relative to a more robust, well rounded roster, offensively. CC’s salary & the decision to back up Payroll to 2021 level - $26M lower than last year are the restrictions. UpstateNewYorker 1
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Sigh. Sorry i ain't folowing too closely, but i saw something about Correa being injured, and i just wanted to check how long after this was posted. But of course someone else has beaten me to saying this aged well... Hope he gets better soon!

Good luck Twins Santana has really disappointed from the right side of the plate! His role, with other’s health, was to hit from right side & provide defense as the situation warranted at 1B. Now he’s playing every inning - not cool. CC out 3-4 weeks could be a serious problem. Wallner - Jeffers - Santana have to contribute something!!…………Castro & Farmer will be playing regularly and need to help as well……obvious stuff here, I know. RpR 1

It's quite apparent the plan for Santana was, and is, full time first baseman. Stupid plan. TwinsDr2021, wabene, Mike Sixel and 2 others 5
