The problem is, you already have 4th starters in Ryan and Ober and a fringe 5th starter in Varland. Oh, and a line up that has scored 11 runs thus far. Good times. Innings limit is a problem, especially if you throw 82 pitches in 4 innings. Remember the archer/bundy days? Shudder Twins_Fan_in_NJ and 1991 1 1
MABB1959 Verified Member Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 this team is going to be frustrating this year, only 2 hits so far and Varland at 82 pitches in just 4 innings? 8 hitters at or under a .250 BA, including Buxton and Correa with no HR's? Actually I think there is only 1 HR so far this season, Kepler 0 for 3 today with a .091 BA?

Azviking101 Verified Member Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 I’m not that upset about Margot coming in. He’s had success against lefties but playing for 1 run there when you’re down 1-0 has an extremely low run expectation. Analytics will say that was a terrible decision. Once again the twins are an analytic driven organization until they’re not. Pick one or the other. I understand that the lefty lefty matchup wasn’t ideal but to replace Julien for that was absolute insanity and the complete opposite of “analytics driven” Danchat 1

If he did it on his own, its because his confidence to start the season is hot - couldn't hit a baseball with a redwood tree right now. You'd think the manager would have some feel for that.
