So...keep Rocco? Just live with mediocrity?

No, but he nor any manager is going to be the difference in a 3-0 loss like this. For this game, the issue is the hitters and Floro is a mediocre reliever. If such a manager existed, their team would be winning 110+ games every year.

It's a larger issue than today's game.

I agree, but someone here was suggesting that we would be winning this game if we had a better manager, which I disagree. I've been of the opinion that the whole front office and coaching staff needs to be reset for over a year now.

Twins would be slated to play the blue jays if the season ended right this very minute. Probably the only chance they’d have of breaking the losing streak.

ok, what the heck is going on with this team?   Why does Baldelli continuously take pitchers out too soon?  Why have we not delt Buxton?  He is fast i get it.  but he is injured way too much and can barely hit .200.  why have we not added a legit veteran bat to the f-ing lineup?   Honestly, if we don't make the playoffs with one of the best rotations in baseball - Baldelli needs to go.   Gardy would not have lost this game or probably not last nights game either .  very frustrating .   the time is now to win.

Live with it?

EMBRACE it...

DH Buxton to preserve replacement-level value at DH and CF; play average (or worse) veterans at all costs; neither sell nor buy at deadlines; tout the pennant 'race' in the ALC, as if it means you're good or a legitimate contender; periodically rearrange deck furniture like hitting and bench coaches...

Rocco fits perfectly. Mediocrity is a PROGRAM with this organization.

Pretty pitiful offensive performance in this series.

They showed up the first 3 innings of game one and one inning yesterday, then basically took the rest of the series off.

Disgusting is putting it verrry kindly.

The Twins lead the league in innings pitched by starters. The issue isn’t Baldelli pulling starters too soon.

I've gotten the sense for some time now that mediocrity is not only tolerated in this organization, but that it might even be the long-term goal, sad to say.

Francona is one of those rare managers that actually makes a difference though.  That's why he's revered.  There aren't many of those types of managers.

The majority are just like Rocco, not really harmful, not really helpful.

Anyone think that's by design? Front offices want managers to implement their vision, not think independently.

30 years ago managers were hired because they were able to put their stamp on a game.

The days of lasorda, larussa, piniella, sparky, Leyland are long gone. And that makes me sad.

Not necessarily.  There's always been good and bad managers.

That said, today's game probably does require the FO and manager to be on the same page like never before.  I don't think that's inherently bad, but it can obviously have a downside.

You do bring up a good point.
