At least we extended our lead on team strikeouts. The SF Giants are really gonna have to up their whiffing game if they hope to catch the Twins now...

For those keeping track----team K's now up to 560!

The 12-45 Oakland A's have 538.

I thought the complaint last season was that Rocco changed the batting order too often and players couldn't get comfortable. Now people are complaining that he doesn't change the lineup enough?

THE BATTING ORDER WILL NOT SOLVE ANY ISSUES

I'm sure you understand that I am an individual and not people... and those who are concerned about the batting order changing too often are other individuals and not people.

This board is not a single voice. I recommend not treating it as such in your responses.

I agree that the batting order will not solve the main issues... I am not making a declaration but I am asking three questions that are lineup related. You can dismiss those questions if you like but I'm asking them anyway.

Now if you use the word "Any" before "solve" and in front of "issues" in response.

Just draw the names out of a hat because it doesn't matter apparently.

One would think that the data right in front of your eyes that Correa and to some extent Buxton for the last 2 months have not lived up to the needs and expectations of a top of the lineup hitter. And, that they should be moved down and someone with better production over the last 2 monts moved up. A week or two slump is a blip. 2 months is a long term trend.

Yeah... If he heats up in the 7 position... he can be moved back to the 3. Batting order doesn't have to be a permanent assignment.

For people who think Jerry Layne had a horrible night, you might be right— but compared to some other home plate umps last night he was actually pretty good. There were terrible ball/strike calls all across the league last night. Just follow the link. It’s sad.

The best response to the impending electronic strike zone is that human umpires step up their game and put it off indefinitely but unfortunately that has not been happening.

Correa looks awful at the plate. It maybe me but it seems like he has adopted the Miguel Sano approach and hacking wildly at pitches down and away out of the zone.  His at bats seem like where hope goes to die.

I didn't watch hardly any games last season (radio), but this year quite a few. I agree with you that Correa's approach seems too aggressive but his walk/strike out ratio this year is pretty consistent with his career numbers. His babip is .062 (.252 this year/.315 over 9 seasons) below his career average. He also leads the league in GDP. Maybe he's just somewhat snakebit so far this year.

This offense has looked horrible given the talent it has for way too long. The only way I can think of to possibly make a difference is to shake things up in order to light a fire or make something click for some players. I cant see it happening with Rocco but a lineup such as this one may force some guys to have some better AB's and make adjustments, or keep dropping lower down in the order/ get replaced until they make the adjustments.

1 - Castro LF

2 - Kirilloff 1B

3 - Lewis 3B

4 - Gallo RF

5 - Jeffers C

6 -  Correa SS

7 - Buxton DH

8 - Farmer/Solano 2B

9 - Taylor CF

Bench - Kepler, Farmer/Solano, Vazquez, Julien

I've been suggesting that Buxton and Correa need to bat lower in the line up for several weeks now.   It creates a wide block of cr*p at the bottom, sure, but I'll take my chances on the top stringing something together.

I turned this game off after the 3rd inning do to the same thing different day. Can't watch the strike out artists swing for the fences anymore. As far as Correa goes, some people get paid and they think life is good. As for Ryan he ended up on the mound on the wrong day. He had been getting huge leads,so didn't have to pitch under pressure. Why was Castro on the bench when he is the only player playing baseball. We will now get to see this team fall under 500 and out of 1st. Maybe the Polhad's need to step in before the seats start to go empty. Not going anywhere win a game lose a game.

What the heck happened?

Good question. Maybe Correa's insane off season has taken a toll.  Who knows.

Meanwhile, his protege, Royce Lewis,  just exudes confidence and energy.

As an aside, what about Buxton? Surely he's hurt... the lack of production is hard to believe.

Well, hope springs eternal.

Taking the rubber match vs the Astros tonight would be a good start.

It's obvious he's hurt. That's why he's a full time DH.

I think they should let Kepler go and pay him out unless someone picks him up.  Wasting too much time.  Seems like all it takes is one hit and he is back on the "A" list or in the Twins case the C- list as most are

Twins have lost the past four series 2-1 each time. Almost impossible to believe they'll win on the road in HOU tonight. It's essentially a sure bet they'll lose, I wish I had as much hope as you. Royce Lewis isn't going to be able to carry this team by himself, and he's got essentially zero help.

By the way, Buxton as a DH only isn't what the Twins signed up for, he's supposed to be a dynamic 2-way player, but he's become a below average 1-way player. When his bat is going bad, he can help with good defense but that's not possible anymore. Real bad situation.

When your top 2 paid hitters both hit into double plays it shows the Twins are in trouble.

Only Rocco knows why he keeps batting Correa at top of lineup when he is just not hitting. Rocco must think Correa will start hitting, but maybe dropping him in lineup will help take pressure off of him. No other team in baseball has a number 3 hitter with a average of about .200.  Rocco will just not make changes and that is one of his problems. If he refuses to make changes then the Twins need to hire a new manager, but the front office just extended his contract. I guess we will have to put with losing teams and Rocco for another 3 years which is so sad for Twins fans.

You usually bat your best hitter in the 3 slot to produce  ...

WHO IS OUR BEST HITTER  ?

IF LEWIS HITS I WOULD BAT HIM THERE OR ANYWHERE ABOVE , Lewis was batting in the 6 spot yesterday  his previous games I'm not sure ( in other words , I forgot ) ...

Computers are taking over  the man's job because they have been real incompetent  since they disbanded from 2 leagues  of umpires (  American and national league team each had there own umpires  )  , dont ask me why they are so  inconsistent but MLB never sees to take any accountability  for it  , they rate them , but sone of the worst umpires are still working ...

In my opinion  that is the start of bad umpiring , plus I have never heard how often they get their eyes check  ...

Robbing a pitcher of a no hitter was the worst before instant replay  , Jim Joyce I believe ...

Oakland and San Francisco  play in warmer spring temperatures  , I guess weather doesn't matter when it comes to strikeouts  ...
