END OF THE LINE

Okay, the 2022 Twins aren't headed for the World Series. So what. We still have other disappointments to look forward to; the Vikings, the Wild, the Terrible Wolves... whatever that team that runs around in short pants is called. Hey this is Minnesota. We thrive on disappointments. Wouldn't know how to properly celebrate a sports championship anyway. Would probably only embarrass us further.

However, if we look hard enough there still are a few good things we can hope for; Arraez besting Judge for the batting title, hometown boy Varland getting his first major league win, Rocco getting a "rest", me getting the sunroom and kitchen taped and painted without spilling sheetrock mud and paint all over the new flooring and finish before the 2023 season starts next February. Like some goody-two-shoes Pollyanna once said; a good paint job ain't over until it's over... everything.

So buckle up boys and girls and hang on to your eyebrows, this is Minnesota, we ain't seen nothing yet.

On the Mound Today

For the Twins: Louie, Louie Varland 0-2  ERA 5.06 K 13

For the Albino Footwraps: Lucas Giolito 10-9 ERA 5.05  K 167

From My Exclusive Interview of Rocco:

Where are you going from here, Rocco?

And what's Your Favorite Gum Rocco?

End of the line happening in September vs July is better, I suppose, but it’s still the end of the line regardless. Oh, the agony of defeat!

No matter what...I'm still watching. I'll be going thru withdrawal until next spring too.

I posted another forum entry about this, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about the Twins' staff and facilities in Ft. Myers today. I can't find anything in the local press or on the Twins' site.

I want to thank all that have done game thread intros this year. Different “openers” give different perspectives. It has been entertain and educational. Thanks again all of you.

Here is the view from Section 219 (not to be confused with Howard Sinker’s blog of years ago)

I've always loved the panoramic view from the upper deck. I used to love sitting (mostly by myself) in the $3 seats in the third deck at Met Stadium!

Where was Correa when we needed him? Great that he woke up, but he was so absent for so long. Going for the $ now is all.

Correa can't score from second on the slow developing hit to right. Amazing. Correa didn't follow Watkins signal to go, either. He is a vet. He shouldn't make that mistake, eh?

For our baserunning this year, I guess it is not amazing., but expected,

Dick was talking about Louie, Louie as a song for Varland and commented that most would not remember the Kingsmen, who were the band that recorded it. I know the Kingsmen only because they were high-school students at Rex Putnam High School a few miles from my house. The Putnam athletic teams are named the Kingsmen. (Not sure what they do about the girls teams.) I don't know if the band was named after the school or if the school's teams are named after the band.

I didn't find anything about the facilities but sounds like complete devastation in Fort Myers.

Taking the extra base, advancing runners, proper tagging up, hitting the cutoff man, bunting, going with the pitch are pretty much lost crafts of today's player.  Homers, strikeouts, bat flips, etc., are now 'in'.  Bottom line, the game has evolved into a homerun derby.  When I heard Baldelli doesn't  even require a daily batting practice or infield practice, I knew this guy wouldn't get the results.  When the FO tells us, Baldelli is included in the Twins future, it told me we can expect mediocrity,  at best.  It certainly doesn't give the fans much hope for future improvements, unless he really bottoms out.  Unless the culture changes and the way the Twins play, we can't expect too much.

Are the School of Rock clips from the Jack Black movie? Or something stemming from it?

Or is that something completely different?

I been meaning to shoehorn some tenacious D into a game thread discussion.
