Once Cave is ready, I think most people think Celestino or Gordon will go to St Paul.  I wonder if it might be helpful for Larnach goes down for the month of August and come back in September.

Honestly, ready for Vikings football. At least they only disappoint me once a week. This amalgamation of players just makes me angry

They’ve already been demoted once each this year, and since this is a lost season, I don’t see a good reason to stop playing them. Astudillo is a big downgrade defensively, plus he hadn’t been hitting well the few weeks before his demotion.

I hear you. It's just that Astudillo's never going to hit .170. Give him a full year of ABs and he'll hit .100 points above that, easy. Defensively he's a downgrade but there's gotta be a tipping point. He's not the worst receiver ever to put on the tools of ignorance, that should be enough when given the choice.

Just my personal opinion of course!

C'mon, Max, why aren't you swinging at that pitch? It was a good pitch from Peralta, but clearly a strike when you had the runner going. Great job.

Baldelli's marriage hasn't changed his luck or his I Q.

Whoever said marriage makes you smarter?

There is no point other than filling innings to keep pitching Happ. I have a hard time believing there’s no one else who can do better than 9+ ERA over the last 60 some innings Happ has pitched. Unreal.

At this point, might as well keep trudging him out there for another start or two. Maybe he shows a flash and somebody grabs him on the market and we get some low level flier prospect. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if him and Colome get DFA'd on August 1st.

I hope the Twins front office can finally give up on the hope of Happ recovering any trade value. It's been obvious for a while that he has been terrible and continues to be terrible. I guess waiting another couple of weeks to release him won't kill the team, but there doesn't seem to be any point.

Laudner was very disconcerted with Rocco's take on 7 inning games, and I appreciated his comment. Bothered me a lot. I've held my fire on Rocco for the most part. His comment on his love of the 7 innings is bothersome.

Yeah, he’s not a baseball guy

I can’t imagine anyone paying more than a PTBNL or cash considerations. DFA will be the most likely choice, and I hope it’s coming sooner than later.

Agree. PTBNL or Cash > DFA so I'll take whatever!

You could easily knock off 10 minutes or more by shortening the 2 minutes between half innings. Pitchers don’t need 8 warmups and it’s not unreasonable for players to run to their positions. 1 minute between half innings would cut out 17 minutes

To get a PTBNL the Twins would have to cover pretty much all of Happ's remaining salary (no one is giving cash for Happ).

But we know that the mid innings aren't 2 minutes long to get the pitchers and position players their warm ups...right?

MLB makes the rule, all those affected adjust

What is the real argument concerning the length of games?

1. Fans are bored, therefore attendance declines.

2. Shorter games reduces injuries?

3. Equipment lasts longer, therefore fewer cows and trees are sacrificed.

Players, coaches and managers are going to get their time in, one way or another.  You trim here, add there.  Certain cirmustances will elongate games.  How soon do you clear the field for an injured player?  I know some of these are rare instances, but everyone is adding up every second.

That rule isn't changing and it has nothing to do with the players. Less time between innings means less commercials means less money.

Jeffers isn't in a slump. He was spoonfed a platoon role to start the season and then had the starting role giftwraped after Garver went down. He's done absolutely

Agree. AND he creeps me out a little with his Gene Simmons impression to the dugout camera. He also leaned forward (inexplicably) on a cross up earlier in the season letting the ball hit the umpire. I wouldn't trust him.

They changed it 2 years ago, went from 2:20 to 2:00
