PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Aren't we supposed to get a lead at this point for the bullpen to lose?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Author Posted May 6, 2021 As it turned out, a straight steal of home would have been a better call.Cruz? Or Garlick?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Author Posted May 6, 2021 Buxton! (keeping in practice)
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 So why can we not fix the problems? Does everything need to be blown up? There may be some problems that could be fixed, but blowing everything up would be a nice cathartic experience after watching this team go from 100 wins to what we're watching now in 2 years.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Is the Rangers pitching this good or is our offense this bad?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 With no minor leagues until yesterday, I don't think Thorpe or anyone else should be criticized for short starts when they haven't had a chance to stretch out in minor league games. Thorpe has been pretty good, but I was hoping to see mid-nineties fastballs.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 So why can we not fix the problems? Does everything need to be blown up?Because we appear to be more than a guy or two away. You’re not just going to get 3 or 4 pitchers while giving up nothing

cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Because we appear to be more than a guy or two away. You’re not just going to get 3 or 4 pitchers while giving up nothing We don't have "nothing"
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 We don't have "nothing" That's because we used it up in the 4th.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Aren't we supposed to get a lead at this point for the bullpen to lose? That appears to be standards protocol, yes.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 We don't have "nothing"No, I’m saying we aren’t going to acquire the necessary arms needed to compete without giving up something substantial in return.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 So why can we not fix the problems? Does everything need to be blown up? Well Buxton and Berrios are free agents after next year. I don't see much else on the roster not in need to being blown up.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 So can we expect him to pull his weight?boy /you’re gonna carry that weight /carry that weight /a long time
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Regarding contending this year, yes the Twins were picked to win or finish second by almost everyone. They haven't looked like any type of a playoff team, but remember the Washington Nationals a couple years ago. They didn't get above .500 until July (IIRC) but went on a run and won the WS. Moves may need to be made, maybe trades. Every facet of the team has not met expectations. If that continues, it will be time to go to rebuild mode.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Zero margin for error with this cluster* of an offense

FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Rocco has a short leash with all his starters that had a full spring and a start to the season, but decides to let a guy go who hasn't pitched in a game for a month, see the lineup for a third time? This dude went from great manager to making bonehead decisions on a game basis. I miss Phish too, but I'm coping!

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Lotsa hard contact, but only 1 run. I just said in another thread that starters need to pitch longer into games. Not sure about this one. Thorpe looked cooked.

Who’s our equivalent of Corbin, Scherzer, and Strasburg in the rotation to make the historic run they did?

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 I can't wait to see the day where Kepler and Sano are no longer on this team.Remember when the consensus was how shrewd the Twins were for signing Kepler, Sanó and Polanco to extensions?
