USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 There's swinging strike 5! Give me your money Chief!!!That's one. But timely!
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 If Happ can’t get through the 5th then I’m a bit concernedI'm assuming they've got Dobnak ready to piggyback for a few innings. Hopefully he still remembers how to pitch...
KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I very much prefer Martin Perez as the visiting pitcher. I still love that there was actual debate over whether to extend him in MN.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Cave gets to 2nd the old fashioned way to lead off the inning. Dang it... w/ 1 out. I am off my game today.
TouchEmAllGuy Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Wait Buxton got out?? Get him outta here
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Good to know folk are paying attention.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Whew. A short inning. Six more of those, please.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Didn't he have a solid(ish) stretch in early 2019?He was extremely good to open the season. Then he remembered he’s Martin Perez.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Didn't he have a solid(ish) stretch in early 2019?Absolutely - I think he was the first Wes Johnson "miracle" project. We were all singing his praises, the dude started like 6-1 or something and had an ERA under 3. I'm not going to look it up but it was something like that. Then he turned back into what he always has been. By the end of the year he'd more or less lost his starting job.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Whew. A short inning.Six more of those, please.I'm guessing that the players are hoping for that too.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Oh damn, Jorge. I would *not* want to be HBP in this weather.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 And again...3-1 pitch to Sano...nothing.

Because like you, pegged him as Wes Johnson's first "project" First 11 appearances, (8 starts) he went 7-1 and had a 2.95 ERA. Turned into Martin Perez after that.
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Ugh... Given his history, I still think Sano will start clicking soon and those balls will end up in the seats. But it sure isn't fun seeing him pop them up for now.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 And again...3-1 pitch to Sano...nothing.That's just dedication to building up dramatic tension.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 A reminder to all game threaders, there will be one game thread covering both games of the DH tomorrow. According to the Twins’ official website, it will be a true doubleheader with only an intermission between games. Six hours of outdoor baseball in 40 degree weather. Should be fun to watch (from my LazyBoy).
TouchEmAllGuy Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Nice work Happ! Looking just fine for starter #5...

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Scary news for me today as I got the J&J shot and have like a 1 in 6 million chance of getting blood clots. Well I mean if I were a woman those would be my odds. To be safe, I'm going to have to regularly thin by blood with alcohol. I'm doing it for my children.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Can we keep scoring runs?Yes. I checked. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2010/official_rules/2010_OfficialBaseballRules.pdf
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Maybe Happ also has a nice '57 Chevy that he lends to Mark Carlson from time to time... that was an awfully generous strike three call.

It’s important to be proactive in these situations. I’m still 2.5 weeks out from my second Moderna shot. I can’t wait to be done with this crap.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 BTW—through 4 innings ESPN’s box shows Happ with exactly 2 swing-and-misses. I think Chief’s bet was a winner.

That process appears to have worked for me so far!

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Nice to see Simmons be a positive with the bat. I don't expect him to keep this up, but I'll take it while I can get it.
