On the bright side, the Yanks only have 4 more years of Hick's 60-games per year track. $167,000+ per game is not bad scratch.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Trevor Hildenberger claimed by Giants. Sean Poppen traded by Pirates to the Rays. And Wilfredo Tovar, who was a journeyman minor league free agent at Rochester for a couple of years, returns to the majors with The Mets!

Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Anthony Swarzak is back with the Royals and getting time at AAA before a potential recall. I guess I hadn't been paying attention, but since he left the Twins after a five year stint ending in 2014, he has been with the Indians, Mets, White Sox, Brewers, Yankees, Mariners and Diamondbacks. Giving former Twin Terry Mulholland a run for most teams played for.

Dodecahedron Twins Daily Jail Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 I miss Mulholland. Not many players get to pitch for 13 years after their peak. Baseball-Reference chose an interesting picture of him for his profile page.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Danny Santana homered in his first game as a Red Sox. Also, old friend Martín Pérez now has a 2-2 record and 3.55 ERA in 45+ innings for Boston.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Kyle Gibson looks like he will improve 4-0 with a 2.24 ERA for the Rangers. The Rangers should have a worse record than the Twins, but Gibson has been stellar since Opening Day. It's early yet, but Kyle might represent the team in the All-Star game.

whosafraidofluigirussolo Verified Member Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 I looked in the "other baseball 2021" thread a couple days ago and was a little surprised that Huascar Ynoa's incident hadn't made it to be posted there, but now I see it's here. I never like to see injuries, but I also always wonder why players flirt with injury doing things like punching a bench, even in the heat of the moment. The MLBTR front page was half ex-Twins transactions yesterday.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 Hector Santiago signed a minor league deal with the Mariners!
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Brandon Waddell recalled by the Orioles. He may get to pitch again at Target Field this week.

Yelling and/or punching things never feels as satisfying as one thinks it will.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Travis Blankenhorn claimed by Mariners from Dodgers. On the 40-man. Hopefully can see some major league time in Seattle. Otherwise, come off-season and if he is a minor league free agent, I would welcome a return to the Twins organization. Like did anyone notice that Jermaine Palacios, who we traded to the Rays for Jake Odorizzi, is now back in the Twins organization at AA ball?

His 94.8 mph average fastball velocity is a career-high, as is his 48.3 percent grounder rate. The former Twins righty only has a year of big league service and could be controllable for several years if he figures it out in San Francisco. I was a fan of Littell's and thought the Twins gave up on him too quickly. He's pitching like it's 2019 again, though SSS of course. He's still only 25, and certainly worth a shot more than the washed up vets the Twins like to try in the pen. Quote JT Chargois, RHP, Mariners: Like Littell, Chargois hasn’t seen much time in the bigs yet, but he’s sporting a 9-to-1 K/BB ratio in 8 2/3 innings for Seattle. He’s had multiple chances with the Twins and Dodgers in recent years but never found much consistency. Chargois always had the stuff, but just could never put it together. John Curtiss was a similar one too, always thought he had the arm but the Twins lost patience, and the Rays fixed him up. The Marlins are getting a good year out of him right now. Quote Ervin Santana, RHP, Royals: The Royals love their reunions more than any team in baseball, and Santana is somewhat improbably back to “smelling baseball,” as he likes to say, for a second stint in Kansas City. He’s only allowed four runs in 15 1/3 innings (2.35 ERA), but he’s also only picked up eight strikeouts against four walks. His fastball is sitting 93 mph again after living at 89-90 in 2018-19, but the red flags are plentiful: 13.1 percent strikeout rate, 91 percent strand rate, .213 BABIP, 45 percent opponents’ hard-hit rate. I can't imagine Ervin has much time left, but dang, I did not see his MPH on his fastball coming back. Darn finger surgery, or whatever the issue was really sidetracked his career after having a great 2017 season.
