sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 A couple(5) of posers* to offer by way of opening this book club discussion... So, is this game Homer's Illiad, or Odyssey? Was Lord Byron a better politician or poet? Would a Rosario by any name smell as sweet? How did Josh hit one over the walls of Jericho? What are orbital routes of certai spheres as projected by Kepler? 0. Tarik Skubal ( L) P1. Victor Reyes ( S ) CF2. Willi Castro ( S ) SS3. Miguel Cabrera (R ) DH4. J. Candelario ( S ) 1B5. And the answer is that i am being a poser, makin' myself out to be a high brow turtleneck wearing intellectual type to good to get my hands dirty in a good ol' down to earth american past time.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Byron was of course at his best as an inspirer, giving us the competition where Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, and producing perhaps the first programmer, Ada, Countess of Lovelace, as a child. Good job, by George!
a-wan Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 All this fancy literature crap, phewy. Victor Reyes is the new Niko Goodrum, with the way Reyes hits the Twins’ pitching.
Sielk Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I just watched the start of the Indians-Sox game. Indians hold a slim 1-0 lead. Hopefully they keep it. Also, Angel Hernandez' calls are ... adventurous.

Good job, by George! That was on the ol' Babbage analytic engine, no? Dredging some high school reading on history of computers... The Game thread graders would also have accept an answer of "yes" to that question (to the first 3 of questions, for that matter, ensuring passing grade)

Linus Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Love the baby blues! How is Buck ever going to steal a base like this?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I'm eating dinner while watching the game ... but I am not going to jinx it by eating chicken
Diesel Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Homer Bailey going 84-86 on his fastball is a bit concerning

Sielk Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Chicago tied it just as i switched over...Unfortunately I saw that too.
Sielk Verified Member Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Something I noticed watching Garvers few ABs since his return: He has taken a lot of pitches at the beginning and only started swinging in 2-strike counts. In that AB just now Skubal served him a fastball right down the middle first and Garver just watched.
Linus Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Hmmmm....Homer is pitching for a contract.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 Hmmmm....Homer is pitching for a contract. Is that better or worse than pitching to contact?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 Another base runner! Baby steps...
Joey Self Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Greetings, all. My first game as a member of this board. I normally watch them on the DVR so I don't have to do commercials, but I am live and in color tonight, at least for a little while. JcS

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Can't say I'm surprised that Bailey's already getting pulled... hopefully the bullpen can keep us in this one. With another off day on Thursday, they can afford to use a lot of the pen today.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 I did it. Just tuned in when Cabrera swung the bat...Sorry.With great power comes great responsibility, not to mention great strike outs. Use it wisely!
