70charger Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Ponce De Leon... Now where have i heard that name before? Was he mentioned in the Dozier rumors back when, and ended up being traded for the not quite Dozier player they ended up getting over that off season? That was Jose de Leon. You may be thinking of Juan Ponce de Leon, the first European sailor to round the Cape of Good Hope the explorer of Florida and first Spanish governor of Puerto Rico. They're quite similar, so it's an easy mistake to make. Edit: dammit, that was Vasco da Gama. My bad.
wabene Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Had to work late so I'm in the second inning but geez I don't know about the fountain of youth I just feel older watching this guy.

Seventh grade social studies, searching for the fountain of youth?
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 yeah, why did the Twins sign HIll?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Looks like Hill is losing some command, but he retired the side in order anyway.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 Gotta think Hill gets to start the 6th at least
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 If Hill can stay healthy he might be an absolute steal. Now, him staying healthy is a major if. Dude has been in the league for 15 years and has pitched less than 1000 innings.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Seventh grade social studies, searching for the fountain of youth? Who'd think the fountain of youth would be there... As penance for my mistake i offer this little ditty...
twins_89 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 While watching Hill it doesn't seem like he's dominating, but then you realize he's pitched 5 innings with the opposing team never even having a guy in scoring position.

Diesel Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 My dad got bad flashbacks when he saw the baby blues. The early 80s were a dark time indeed.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I actually thought JD was swinging the bat well there. He looks more powerful/confident at the plate now. I think that HR last night helped him a lot.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 I hope Rocco gives Hill the lefty, Wong, to lead off the inning at least.

Wait, what is it about an 89 mph fastball that doesn't suggest dominant to you?
twinssporto Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Duffy chucking some nice curves...I did notice his velocity seems down from last year. I remember a few games last year he was throwing the FB 97+.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 WOW! Duffey. 3k's. Can't ask for much more...Impressive!
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 Duffey shoving!!! love to see it! Have to think Romo gets the heart of the Cards order in the 7th with them all being righties
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Hopefully we can see Hill go 7 in games like this in the future when he's stretched out. In the meanwhile, everyone in the bullpen outside of Littell and Smeltzer have looked really good.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Love how they used him mid game against the top of the order.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 The quartet of Maeda, Bailey, Hill, and Clippard has 11 hits and 5 walks in 17 innings (0.941 WHIP), with 13 strikeouts and 4 earned runs (2.12 ERA), against a couple of good lineups. So far, so good.

Don Walcott Verified Member Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Andrew Miller . . . Andrew Miller . . . wait, didn't he used to be Andrew Miller?
