Today Nolan Arenado hit a 482 foot HR at Coors Park--the ball went beyond all the seats and bounced over the wall onto the street.

Beautiful slow motion of Cron shutting his eyes for the (non-)catch.

 

I knew this guy at school who could not catch the ball. You could lob the ball to him soft toss and he couldn't catch the ball. 

 

Couldn't even get lucky and catch it. 

 

It was a television/radio class so we decided to turn the camera on and film him in slow motion missing the ball for our television assignment/project. 

 

We didn't realize it when he was missing the ball every time but slow motion revealed that he was closing his eyes consistently. 

 

 

We had slow motion shots of him closing his eyes and the ball bouncing off his forehead, followed by the expression on his face. And then another one. I put Skaters Waltz in the background and the class laughed so hard, they were falling off their chair. We shot about 20 missed catches in slow motion. 

 

I wish I would have had the foresight to save that video.

Definitely not a cheap home run, but aided by low air resistance of the ball and low air resistance of the Denver atmosphere.

heh... had to step away for a bit, and paused the game- came back and thought Garv had hit a second HR!

Catchers blink surprisingly often when receiving the pitch, when slow motion happens to focus on them just right. I guess 94 MPH will make anyone blink.

Yeah but slow motion eye closing on a lob. Is way way funnier.
