Most people like myself wanted Hamilton for September and the postseason as a situation guy not a guy in the starting lineup. Cave would have been down for a maximum of 10 days if they couldn't find anyone else to send down and they had to roster Hamilton for the rest of August. Cave would have been back on the roster Sept 1. If Buxton and Eddie are healthy, Cave wouldn't be in the lineup anyways.

 

I will give it to Cave he has been on fire the last week or so.

By the way, my primary care physician has one wandering eye, or maybe he's blind in it, or I don't know. He doesn't wear an eye patch, and I have never asked him about it. He's a good doctor. But when I'm in his office, I always have trouble remembering which eye to look at him in.

 

I have that same sense of disorientation when looking at Scherzer. "Blue... brown... blue... brown... Pick an eye color and stick with it, so I can look at you, Max!"

Consider this for a minute: Berríos may be the only Twins starter that holds over until next year. Pineda, Odorizzi, and Gibson are all free agents and Pérez has an option. 

 

Quite possible they will keep one or two of them, but not entirely farfetched to think that 4/5ths of the current rotation won't be back.
