Top 10 rejected game thread intro ideas:

10. Pig latin.

9. Rip Van Winkle

8. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

7. Thesis abstract.

6. Propaganda pamphlet.

5. Yoyo Tricks... by Yoyo Ma.

4. Ostrich: bury head in sand.

3. Things to complain about.

2. I spy with my little eye.

and the number 1 rejected game thread into idea:

1. a David Letterman style top 10 list...

Um... yeah...

That didn't end well.

Nevermind. Try again.

And David said "thy servant shall fight these phillistwins" and Gardenhire outfitted him in a helmet and batting gloves. But David mistrusted it, and took just a ball and a glove out to the mound, glad that he was in the AL.

Um... no. For once i'm rooting *for* the ph- the Twins.

No, i'm not going to link the shutting down of Hal 9000 despite it being done by a David, despite it being an epic scene. But i will point out that the song is about a tandom bike, as Twins might ride. And there is a more apt use of the phrase "Total System Failure"

But i got plenty of time here, and come up with a better game thread intro.

Or at least i had plenty of time...

Well, i suppose i do not have to be creative.

Game thread, meet Twins Daily Posters.

Twins Daily posters are capable of many an interesting insight, and spurious entertainment, not to mention a diverse background and perspective.

Posters, meet this here thread for a Saturday game amid the dog days of August. If someone happens to know which dog today belongs to, let us know. This is game where some new and unusual thing will happen nobody expect. Watch closely, so ya don't miss it. And if you do, ask maybe someone here noticed it.

Seeing one line up, i like our clean up batter.

And keep up the progress Jake Cave!

Tigers:

0. Edwin Jackson (R ) P

Gardenhire is still thinking.

(So many choices)

Twins:

0. Kyle Gibson (R ) P

1. Max Kepler ( L) CF

2. Jorge Polanco ( S ) SS

3. Nelson Cruz (R ) DH

4. Luis Arraez ( L) 2B

5. Miguel Sano (R ) 3B

6. M. Gonzalez ( S ) RF

7. Mitch Garver (R ) C

8. Jake Cave ( L) LF

And now the formalities are done...

Kepler leading off, Arraez hitting cleanup.

I really don’t get it.

Has any member of the local media even asked about lineups? Specifically Arraez leading off?

I say this as one of the first to suggest Kepler in the lead off spot way back in November. At the time, I felt he was the best option of a lot of bad options. Arraez has changed the field. No, I don’t expect him to hit .350. Maybe not even .300. But he has a disciplined approach, does a good job making contact (other than last night) and has the ability to hit the occasional gap to get himself into scoring position.

Actually, I don't think they're ideas so much as a gauntlet thrown down.

3rd in most runs scored, 5th in fewest runs allowed?

Yankees are 1st and 6th.

The 1999 Rangers were 2nd and 7th.

And 38th defensively! :(

How remiss of me... I should pick up after myself. It still works, right? Nothing i like better a running gauntlet.

Outside of his power numbers Kepler has really struggled pretty hard the last 6 weeks too, weird to keep hitting him leadoff.  Probably completely random....but Kepler has struggled when he plays CF.

When he plays CF:  202 PA, .220/.292/.473

When he plays RF:  319 PA, .265/.351/.552

Buck please come back. Please.

You're 100% right.

I suppose Baldelli wants Kepler to complete a year batting leadoff for consistency's sake.

For no other reason.

I'm thinking of the level of competition (all the bottom feeders we beat up on early in the year), and our record being just a tad over .500 over the last nearly 3 months.

At this rate, we'll be going to limp into playoffs with all our momentum spent long ago!

KC and the White Sox did it, just last season. :)

You're right. I forgot ... or didn't pay attention.

And now I see that the Tigers lost 98 games last year to almost join KC and the White Sox in the 100 loss column. Well, well.

I had momentum once. It was all downhill from there.

Three posts in a row?

I'm going to go away now, to the Concert Without Borders in Douglas AZ / Aqua Prieta Mexico. Should be fun to see amigos on both sides having fun listening to music and eating good food.

Go Twins!

I was one who supported the idea of keeping Kepler in the lead-off spot when this was discussed here a few weeks back. I have now seen the Light! Hallelujah! Let us Arraez!

running a gauntlet is fine, as long as you don't do it with scissors..

Even in today’s sabermetrics led game I can’t see any reason for Arraez not to lead off. I’ve seen him draw too many long productive at bats. He legitimately gives you a chance to put the starter in a big hole in the first inning. That’s a leadoff hitter.

2 MORE GAMES WITH THESE UNIFORMS, Gotta say to me they r the ugliest i have ever seen , any others ??? like or not ?

The red top home uniforms were pretty bad. The comment was it made them look like Dairy Queen employees. I think that was circa 1998.
