In his head, he had Berrios going 6 innings and giving up 1 run. He had that in his mind all day yesterday, all morning today, and even through the first 5 innings tonight.

 

It's a lot like poker. Rocco raised pre-flop with an ace high. But a pair of kings came up on the flop, and got a non-suited 4 on the turn. Professionals will bail to fight another day. Amateurs don't.

 

In short, Rocco just couldn't get away from what he wanted to happen.

Bigger picture concern. Berrios has looked absolutely cooked for 4 straight starts. With him pitching like that, not only do the Twins have no chance in the playoffs, they will have a hard time getting there.

Not good. Marcus Stroman would look real good right about now.

Stroman would not have pushed Berrios out of the rotation, so I don't know what he has to do with this game.
