How so? Because the White Sox have scored five runs with seven baserunners?

The squeeze was a nice play but the Sox have lucked into this lead. The Twins have outplayed them on the field by a considerable margin.

Not in the clutch hitting department.

It feels like we should be winning this game, whoever said a while ago that we might get unluckied tonight might be right.  But I still feel a win coming.

I know there's still a fair amount of the game left, but I'm not having a good feeling about the outcome.

When did we start playing so poorly at home? It just boggles my mind.

It's weird, it seems this team is more clutch on the road. Perhaps they press in RISP situations when the crowd is expecting a big hit, or when the pitcher needs to get a big out. Most teams don't struggle with this.

Though I guess this won't be the worst thing if we end up as the 3rd seed? We'll need to win some big road games.

He was clearly out, but it was close, and a terrific throw right down the line past Sano, and a terrific catch by the catcher on a hop.

Some of us feel the catcher may have been blocking the plate before he caught the ball. Paragraph two of the rule might come into play, though, as he was sort of moving to field the throw.

As Roy mentioned, feet first slide by Sano probably would have been effective.

The Twins have drilled several balls at people and put two on the warning track.

That’s just bad luck baseball. It happens sometimes and it doesn’t mean the team is doing anything wrong.

Plus, the Twins are good enough that a three run lead by the Sox may not get the job done.

I don't know that the Twins have "clearly outplayed" the Sox tonight.

Gibson pitched well.  Deserved better. I'll go that far.

And people need to get over the idea that the Twins can just show up and beat Chicago. This isn't Alabama against Slippery Rock in football. It's major league baseball, and all 30 teams are really good at baseball.

Play well, and you'll probably win because you're a little better than Chicago. Also, Chicago is a little better than KC, who is a little better than Detroit. But the margins are slim in professional baseball. You don't beat anyone just because you're way more talented. You have to outplay them.

And this isn't over yet.

While I don't disagree in theory, I tend to agree with Danchat that maybe we're pressing a bit much at home.

The Twins outpitched the Sox, outhit them, and have made *much* louder outs. Neither team has looked good or bad on defense.

That’s pretty much the definition of outplaying. And, in baseball, you occasionally don’t win when that happens.

The only thing that could be questioned was if catcher James McCann... Needed that Former Senator Larry Craig wide stance to field the ball.

I say he didn't... Nor did Larry Craig.

I had kinda thought the twins have scuffled against Detroit, kc and the White Sox, but actually they’re 22-9 going into tonight. The Indians are 27-14 against those teams (12-1 against the tigers). 10 of their next 16 are against those teams. But yeah, you’ve gotta beat teams 10+ games under .500

Well, the Sox have played pretty good defense. I wouldn't say the Twins have. The one clearly egregious play on defense was made by Rosario. The one clearly well above average play was made on Sano at the plate.

Yeah but it is always a moving target.

Below .500 teams are not always below .500 teams during the course of a season.

I’ll concede the Sox May have a slight advantage in fielding but, despite drilling the ball and making outs pretty regularly on high expected average balls, the Twins have doubled the Sox hit total.
