akmanak Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Another glaring hole in Rocco's managing style. Plays like the first inning is why you have players show up for practice.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Way to go, guys. Better get that slop out of the way early.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 None of the Mets outfielders are playing their natural position, hopefully it shows.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I said it earlier this week, there is no room for Schoop on this roster right now. Move on.There is plenty of room for him because putting an out-of-nowhere prospect in a permanent starting role after 108 PAs is a good way to bite yourself in the ass for no good reason. But a platoon to see how Arraez does over the next month or more? That sounds fine to me.
luckylager Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 The Raconteurs are sitting right behind home plate.

I see no reason to play Schoop at this point, other than fear. And Adrianza also. I remember when the Twins would refuse to play rookies, because veterans! I'm not interested in that any more.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 The Raconteurs are sitting right behind home plate. I wish I was seeing them this tour! So good.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I'm beginning to think there is something to the complaints about lack of practice. There's probably a reason why teams have taken BP and infield pretty regularly through the years. Twins have been sloppy and fundamentally unsound pretty often over the past couple months, as they get farther and farther removed from spring training.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 can McNeil play second? Could use a leadoff hitter...

Doing something risky just because there's upside is not a good reason to potentially create a blackhole on a contending team, doubly so if there's no pressing need to do it. Besides, what is lost by keeping Schoop? Do we really care about Jake Cave that much?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 nothing to feel bad about with that at bat Rosie...
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 At least one team is playing defense tonight. Unfortunately, it's not us.

And Astudillo. At some point, the team needs to make a trust decision. And, if they are platooning, what are we going to learn in another month about Arraez? Will you trust him then? If then, why not now?
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Well, Cron looks pretty rusty.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 The Raconteurs are sitting right behind home plate. And former Governor Dayton is in the front row above the Mets' dugout.

Besides, what is lost by keeping Schoop? Do we really care about Jake Cave that much? I'm ready to cut bait on Cave also. With Buxton's continued inability to stay healthy, I'd like a real OF backup up here. Oh, and Marwin also. How many potential 2B do they need on the roster?
luckylager Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 And former Governor Mark Dayton is in the front row near the 3B dugout. I'd much rather listen to The Raconteurs .
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 wow... Kepler has really improved against lefties.
FLTwinsGuy Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Damn, this game close to being tied.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 wow... Kepler has really improved against lefties.Yeah, it's really fascinating. Lefties just don't hit lefties. It's nearly a universal truth in baseball.
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Another example of excellent clutch hitting. NOT. How long will this stretch last?
twinsbaby Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Quiet offense continues, Matz just throws 12 strikes for 23 pitches in 2 innings. Take walks, not swing everything.

It's interesting the approach he's taking (or at least so Bremmer says)… But he really smoked that out... too bad it was right at the 1B.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 For all the bagging on Schoop.. he's got a .763 OPS... that's above average for an ML hitter.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 SCHOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOMBA
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Schoop brings back the run he cost us in the first!
twinsbaby Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Another 2-0 count starts, Schoop finally punches Matz.
