It's interesting the approach he's taking (or at least so Bremmer says)… But he really smoked that out... too bad it was right at the 1B.

Morneau had one or two seasons he did really well against LHP before pitchers adjusted and he faded again. It will be interesting to see how Max does over the long run.

For all the bagging on Schoop.. he's got a .763 OPS... that's above average for an ML hitter.

Which is why I keep him... for now. He's not a bad player, he's just in a pretty ugly streak right now (excluding the obvious homer a minute ago).

If he had a .600 OPS, I'd feel differently about it.

Alright, new idea: we've gone on about how Schoop stinks with guys on base... so just have him be the leadoff hitter!

(And suddenly, we have Brian Dozier 2.0!)

Schoop is still league median at this point, maybe I'm letting recency bias cloud my thoughts. But you'll never figure out if Arraez is real if you don't play him.

Since his recall, Arraez has played 19 of 21 team games. He's not struggling for PAs.

Didn't you just say platoon him with Schoop? Or maybe I read that wrong.....which is possible. I was definitely doing more than 2 things at a time there....

During that stretch, Arraez played second only four times.

While Cron was on the IL, which he's not now. And Sano is healthy. And Polanco. Who are you sitting among those three and Schoop? I mean, sure, he could give them all a rest, but that's not likely coming out of the ASB.

"I have too many warm bodies who are good at baseball" isn't something a MLB manager has ever said.

Seriously, Mike. I know you tend to get emotional about players but the 2019 Minnesota Twins have fielded their starting nine fewer than five times and we're in the middle of July. Without checking, they may have fielded their starting nine zero times. It can't be more a few games at most.

These "problems" rarely pan out to be actual problems over 162 games.

It's not a problem, unless you don't play the guy that might be better. But like I said, recency bias probably is clouding my thoughts on Schoop.

Arraez has shown flexibility. I agree that Schoop has been underwhelming but if you put in Arraez a couple of times a week at second, you can also get him in at third once a week and maybe the OF on occasion.

Rotating two guys out of the lineup on a near-nightly basis to play Gonzalez and Arraez could have a huge impact through the second half of the season.

There's no reason to dump Schoop at this point. He's good enough to not kill the team and he's not really preventing anyone else from playing.
