Game Thread Twins @ Astros, 7:10pm CDT 4/22/2019 ad

Well, Jake.

Just checked into the game, in time to see that Reddick AB. Wow, it's just painful to watch him with guys on base. The Astros' announcers were over it, too.

Announcer 1: He likes to mix in that slider against left handed batters

Announcer 2: He likes to mix in a sundial, too, when he's got runners on.

Watching him stare and stare and stare at Castro, then sigh and look heavenward, then step off and go through signs again.... and then, yet another 3-ball count.

I'd be hitting the coffee machine in the dugout every half inning, just to stay awake out there in the field behind him.

Some pitchers should learn a knuckleball, just to get an at-bat over with.

Hee hee...

And some pitchers need to stop being knuckleheads...

Will be interesting to see how long Rocco lets Odo go. It has been known he struggles the third time through, but with the state of the pen I think he lets him try to get through the 6th.

Reddick was putting the same swing on every pitch. I though Odo would keep it high and away where the hole in the swing was, but he grooved the last one.

Seems he’s already seen their best hitters three times. I hope he goes out for the sixth.

Watching him causes me to form a mental image of a camouflaged nature photographer sitting motionless inside a blind behind a camera with a long telephoto lens all day, hoping to get an incredibly rare shot of him offering at a pitch in footage that's sure to be the centerpiece of the next BBC Earth installment.

Going on the premise that Baldelli and his staff know better than to run Odorizzi out for the 6th, the Twins need 12 outs from the pen. A further premise would be that none of them will be provided by Hildenberger or Rogers, both of whom threw at least 18 pitches the last two days.

One would have to guess that Mejia or Harper is going to be asked to go at least 2 innings.

This is a huge run here.  Get a run here and let Odo go out until he gives up a base runner.  Bring in Harper when he does.

Bring in a guy that has allowed 60% of inherited runners to score? What could go wrong?

I'm thinking they are hoping to start Mejia on Wednesday.

This is a definite possibility.  At least hope he can go 3-4 innings and go from there.  Could they potentially piggy back Perez?

No real other option other than Duffey and I'd personally rather him for the later innings.  Also, Harper letting in 60% of inherited runners is a pretty small sample size.

...and then sneezing, just as that rare bird appears.

Whoa, Kep!

Coming through with the 2-out Ribby!

And then setting the table for Polanco!

Don't stop now, boys!  TM
