Where is the Romero that pitched so well in his first few starts last year?

The big bummer seems to be that a New Renault managed to do the same thing Eddie did today (hit 3 homers); somewhat lessening the neat-o factor.  Although, granted, it is both pretty amazing that a car is hitting homers in a baseball game, and that there is even a new Renault being built these days.

Didn't quite peg Renault for a power hitting type, figured he was more of a gritty grinder, like Little Nicky Pacer, or (dang, I'm out of steam here), Ricky(?) Yugo.

I'm quite certain I translated Renato Nunez correctly.

How many did you collect?

So far, my son got a ball tossed to him by Cave. (It was underthrown, but my son made a nice catch.)

The Hanser Alberto Home run landed two rows in front of us, exactly in front of us. Then the Renato Nunez homer (second) landed about ten seats over.

I see that this pitcher the Orioles have out there is batting .140 this season. Typical, I suppose.

I assume they'll wait to see how the next few days settle out to decide the plan for Wednesday's game, but Stewart (Thursday) and Littell (Friday) are the two guys from Rochester that could line up. Unfortunately, neither has exactly distinguished themselves so far.

Twins tie team record with eight homers.

Other occasion was Aug. 29, 1963, just down the road in Washington, and also in a doubleheader (first game):

  • Vic Power 2 (8, 1 off Ron Moeller, 6th inn, 2 on, 2 outs to LF, 1 off Don Rudolph, 1st inn, 0 on, 1 out to LF);
  • Bob Allison (29, off Don Rudolph, 1st inn, 1 on, 2 outs to RF);
  • Harmon Killebrew 2 (31, 1 off Pete Burnside, 5th inn, 0 on, 2 outs to CF, 1 off Ron Moeller, 6th inn, 1 on, 2 outs to LF);
  • Jimmie Hall (26, off Ron Moeller, 8th inn, 0 on, 1 out to RF);
  • Bernie Allen (6, off Ed Roebuck, 9th inn, 0 on, 0 outs to RF);
  • Rich Rollins (16, off Ed Roebuck, 9th inn, 0 on, 1 out to LF).

But that time, they hit four in the other game, so the 11 homers in a doubleheader today isn't a record.

Baltimore is digging deep into the pen.

They hit rock bottom, apparently. Does Chris Davis have any qualifications to pitch beside the sub-Mendoza batting average?  (I feel bad poking fun at him, because I felt bad for what he went through last year and then to start this year, and I'm glad he has at least started to hit a little.)
