Prototype NL run!

 

A sac fly or a ground out would have arguably been more prototypical.

 

But it still followed the same premise: Get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in!!!

I still like running Kepler there with Astudillo at bat, as Morneau said, worse case scenario Astudillo will bat next inning, and likely to a pitcher other than Degrom

I don’t want to say that I am not a Gladden fan but he still hasn’t told me whether Buxton scored on Kepler’s single.

I'll break the bad news then...he was stranded there. :)

Every at bat that Astudillo has with two strikes, I think surely this must be the time he will strike out. The odds say he has too eventually.

 

But then he manages to put it in play.

You could go Cron-Gonzalez-Polanco-Astudillo around the infield for a game or two, with Schoop not really doing much yet. Just my opinion..

 

And as I type, I think we’ve seen our last game with Astudillo at first.

I think they signed him to be the every second baseman. And if they did, I just don't think a handful of games should be enough to change that.

He isn't going to start hitting from the bench. In general, I'd like to see 6 weeks or so before we start evaluating performance.

The odds are certainly better than when he has one strike.

I don’t disagree. But with Astudillo making such good contact, and Schoop not doing that, I am seeing an opportunity for a better lineup at least for the moment. And i’d like to see Cruz get at bat(s) in a funny week like this.

Awful AB by Schoop. This is a great game for the Twins - but it might be worth mentioning that he doesn't appear to be the player the Twins thought they were getting.

 

Cheer up! We could have had Cano and only be paying ~$20m for the next few years of non-production.
