It's not fantasy baseball. But when you have DFA'ed more than half of the bullpen arms that you started the season with, and you've jettisoned 5+ pitchers to and from the major league roster over the course of weeks, something is wrong.

It's not just the deadline. It's the offseason. Where are Parker, Mejia, Magil and Morin right now? This front office has no clue how to structure an effective bullpen. None.

Well that hurt. Need to point out that the grand slam from last night affected this game and now the next game since Rogers has now thrown 3 straight. Disappointing for Dyson, but we need him tomorrow.

Great. And who is responsible for those 'bad seeds' being in the bullpen in the first place? And, second, why does nearly every other playoff contender not have similar issues with bad seeds - to the extreme point that the Twins do?

I said a few days ago Stashak tends to give up too many hits. He and Poppen should be the ones sent down.

I'd agree that trotting out Mejia and Magill again this season was a bad idea.  Didn't think they were ML ready at all.  And as I said above, the DFAs that have happened in the last month have all been the right move.  It has to be a collective effort all year to identify talent but also be able to have the means to acquire that talent.  Who knows if Ottavino would have had the same production with the Twins as he's had with the Yankees.  That's the crapshoot that is bullpen middle relief most times.

No, Rogers “blew” the save. That’s the way the stat works. Dyson actually will get credit for a hold.

 

Rogers gets the blown save, but no hold for Dyson since you have to record at least one out.

Maybe the bullpen is to Falvine as the vikings QB situation is to Rick Spielman.  Otherwise great executives but just cannot seem to get the bullpen figured out.

 

Nick Anderson, Ryan Pressly, Oliver Drake (all three in the organization last year) would look pretty good in this bullpen. 

 

This is the kinda loss that you just can't afford. Doesn't necessarily seem like a big deal now, but in the middle of a razor thin division race, these are the sorts of games that come back to bite you.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on the FO stuff.  Baldelli has been handed these ingredients and all he did today (with a little help from his decision last nite in the 9th) was blow up the oven.  I said it before Dyson threw his first pitch that it was a bad decision.  This is the type of managing that gets tossed under the microscope in the postseason and Rocco will fail miserably if he keeps this up.

Does anyone know the Twins record for day games this year?  If memory serves me correctly they don't seem to win many day games.
