wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Another statement that aged well.Lots of statements in this thread today that aged like a fine vinegar.
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Guess you gotta tip your cap to miami. They took advantage of opportunities when we very much did not
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Worst loss of the year behind the Yankees last week
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 The goal of getting 2 out of 3 was still reached but losses like today are no good. When the manager gets better about handling his bullpen -- no matter who is out there -- then these things probably won't happen.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 lol @ Falvey and Levine. What deals would you have made then? Who in the organization would you have parted with? This isn't fantasy baseball.
Jham Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Well, those of us who wanted to get a lock down guy over Dyson and internal options get a lot of material to work with. Ouchy. #freeduran
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Just terrible, very disappointing.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Stashak should not be pitching for a playoff contender. Would he be in the Yankees' bullpen? Or Houston's? Or Cleveland's? Boston's? The Rays'? Complete failure by the front office.
rickybeathard Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yeah, really pathetic front office.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 What deals would you have made then? Who in the organization would you have parted with? This isn't fantasy baseball. It's not fantasy baseball. But when you have DFA'ed more than half of the bullpen arms that you started the season with, and you've jettisoned 5+ pitchers to and from the major league roster over the course of weeks, something is wrong.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 What deals would you have made then? Who in the organization would you have parted with? This isn't fantasy baseball. It's not just the deadline. It's the offseason. Where are Parker, Mejia, Magil and Morin right now? This front office has no clue how to structure an effective bullpen. None.

Yeah, it's weeding out the bad seeds. Every DFA they have made in the last month has been the right move.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Pet peeve of mine is 'whom would have signed or traded for'... Does the heart surgeon ask the relatives of a dead patient what they would've done differently? It's not my job to build an effective bullpen. It is the job of Falvey and Levine. And they failed.
gocgo Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Well that hurt. Need to point out that the grand slam from last night affected this game and now the next game since Rogers has now thrown 3 straight. Disappointing for Dyson, but we need him tomorrow.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yeah, it's weeding out the bad seeds. Every DFA they have made in the last month has been the right move. Who were the ones putting them in the bullpen to get DFA'd in the first place? I feel like you're missing an important piece of the puzzle here.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yeah, it's weeding out the bad seeds. Every DFA they have made in the last month has been the right move. Great. And who is responsible for those 'bad seeds' being in the bullpen in the first place? And, second, why does nearly every other playoff contender not have similar issues with bad seeds - to the extreme point that the Twins do?
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I said a few days ago Stashak tends to give up too many hits. He and Poppen should be the ones sent down.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 It's not just the deadline. It's the offseason. Where are Parker, Mejia, Magil and Morin right now? This front office has no clue how to structure an effective bullpen. None. I'd agree that trotting out Mejia and Magill again this season was a bad idea. Didn't think they were ML ready at all. And as I said above, the DFAs that have happened in the last month have all been the right move. It has to be a collective effort all year to identify talent but also be able to have the means to acquire that talent. Who knows if Ottavino would have had the same production with the Twins as he's had with the Yankees. That's the crapshoot that is bullpen middle relief most times.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Man, I thought I got worked up about things -- I must have ice water in my veins (relatively speaking). Cole beats Cleveland tonight, the 3 game lead stands, and onward to a 10 game home stand where the Twins will hopefully win at least 7.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yep, bullpen is still awful. This one is on Rocco. Bad managing of bullpen arms.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Welp, I'm out for now. Tomorrow's another game. Need much better results.
Hawkeye12 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 No, Rogers “blew” the save. That’s the way the stat works. Dyson actually will get credit for a hold. Rogers gets the blown save, but no hold for Dyson since you have to record at least one out.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Rough stuff, folks. Maybe the bullpen is to Falvine as the vikings QB situation is to Rick Spielman. Otherwise great executives but just cannot seem to get the bullpen figured out. Nick Anderson, Ryan Pressly, Oliver Drake (all three in the organization last year) would look pretty good in this bullpen. This is the kinda loss that you just can't afford. Doesn't necessarily seem like a big deal now, but in the middle of a razor thin division race, these are the sorts of games that come back to bite you.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 We're gonna have to agree to disagree on the FO stuff. Baldelli has been handed these ingredients and all he did today (with a little help from his decision last nite in the 9th) was blow up the oven. I said it before Dyson threw his first pitch that it was a bad decision. This is the type of managing that gets tossed under the microscope in the postseason and Rocco will fail miserably if he keeps this up.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yeah, really pathetic front office. I think this one is on Rocco. He should never let Dyson pitch and he should have saved Rogers for today. Rogers should not pitch last night.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 The Twins didn't get a hit after Rosario's single in the 7th and Cruz in the 9th was the only base runner after that.
Dman Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Does anyone know the Twins record for day games this year? If memory serves me correctly they don't seem to win many day games.
