IMPORTANT Dick N Bert Update

I bet Riverbrian would do a great job!

I was thinking along those lines.   Real entertainment TV.      I think Morneau has a pretty good sense of humor and he can take the baseball analyst part.    Have the play by play guy be more like Conan Obrien.  Rethink the entire dynamic.   Have a season of just  play by play guests rather than a regular.   Conan, Bill Murray, Chuck and Josh, Sarah Silverman,  Trump, Obama..    Riverbrian can fill in all the gaps.

Love that they're going away from simply being happy with a mediocre innings-eater. I'd like to see them go with an opener, and then multiple commentators for one time through the lineup each. Guys with legit stuff though, like Hawkins and Morneau, Smalley for an inning. No more junkballers like Blyleven and Morris.

In the 1980 NFL season, one of the networks had some issues manning the booth for one game. This game ended up with no commentators. People liked it and there was talk of this becoming a thing. Alas, it never became a thing.

In some markets, the local affiliates had a local sportscaster call the game. In other markets, there was just no commentary.

I think Marney should replace Dick. Pizza Ranch for the win! :)

Couple her with Morneau, and its M&M all over again!

Honestly her or LaPanta would have to be shoe in's for Bremer's seat one would think.

Morneau seems to be the only one with any talent. Hawkins might have a bit, but I think he just needs more time behind the mic. I can't have the sound on games when Smalley is on...I can figure out which end of the bat to use on my own (I can't listen to him say "big end of the bat" one more time). He starts talking about a point, then can't figure out how to end the thought and six pitches later he's still rambling on. Bert has phoned it in for a couple years now, he just reads the media guide, says the pitcher should bend his back and laughs about eating worms every once and a while. I thought Torii would have some potential, but he is awful...Stick with the Canuck!

Dennis Miller has experience in the broadcast booth. I'm not saying it was a good experience. For anyone. But he does have experience.

"We don't have a center fielder. We just know a guy who would get really mad if he heard me say that."

"We need to bring in a reliever, but I have my doubts about this Dr. Ake."

There's no such thing as a play-by-play guy...or an analyst...that you aren't going to get tired/bored of hearing when the games are as long and slow as they are now.  162 games, at 3 1/2 hours a game...there just isn't enough interesting and/or relevant things to fill that.

Morneau does a great job, let's get more of him and less of Hunter and Smalley.  I'm glad they've cut Berts  games, I'm tired of him.

I like Morneau and Hawkins, but need to hear more to make an informed decision. I too would be OK if Dick got phased out over the same time. Management has changed, Manager changed, broadcast team changes too...

I couldn't imagine doing play by play or color and wonder why it's setup the way it is. Radio, I get. TV you can see what's going on, so it seems to me, having two or three analytical and knowledgeable people discuss the game without describing each and every play is the way to go.

I actually would like to hear a lot more of Roy Smalley.  He is smart, insightful and can actually teach a listener a little bit about baseball.  Morneau as well.  I'd also be curious to see how Cuddy would do in the booth.

I'd like a game or more like just this and reduce the commercials, with the money saved from those   commentators.

They're really just there to sell things, the announcers are an extension of the commercials. Sure, they call the game and act excited, but they also work in the sponsorships. Otherwise, they are just trying to keep people "tuned in."

"Why is home plate called home plate? I have not ever seen a five sided plate. And it is too flat, how would you get peas to stay on that plate? They will roll into the dirt; I do not like to eat dirty peas."

Is Cuddyer still doing some unknown front office job with the team? He's actually the one I thought for years would be perfect in the booth.

He would be good in there. Always was a good talker. I'm sure people would tire of him too, but I always thought he had good things to say.

Yeah.  I think especially on the TV side, where the cameras tell most of the story.

There always comes a time...but, I put getting new guys in the booth firmly under the 'be careful what you wish for' category.  It ain't easy being consistently good/relevant/entertaining when you're dealing with the hours of exposure mlb guys are dealing with these days (even assuming the product itself can stand on it's own, which we know is not always the case).  If one doesn't think it could be worse, one hasn't watched many regional baseball broadcasts.

I thought all of the analysts did a good job last year and would like to see them all rotated through again next year. Dick Bremer does an excellent job of meshing with each of the different personalities. I'm sure it would be easier to work with one partner all season, but I really like having a rotation with Bert, Smalley, Hunter, LaTroy "Jesus!" Hawkins, Morneau, and Jack!

Marney, Audra, and Gorg have been great and I like the rotation there too.

The baseball season is just too long to listen the the same voices each and every game.

Couldn't disagree more.

Corey Provus is magnificent on the radio side.  Thank goodness, because when Gladden does PbP in the middle innings, I don't know whether I'm 'shot, f*****, powder-burnt or snake-bit' based on his description of the action.  Holy moly.

I was referring to TV where the idea is that you are sitting in front of your TV for 3 1/2 hours.  Radio play-by-play is a different animal, and listening to a game on the radio is a different experience with different expectations.  I agree that Corey Provos is a good radio play-by-play guy.  Not young Herb Carneal...but good.  I like Gladden as an analyst.

How about Gardy and Nicky Punto?

Gardy:   "That bunt by Buxtie was a little hard"

LNP:  "It was close.   He would have made it with a head first slide"

Gardy:  "I don't understand this lineup.   Why isn't he batting all his lefties consecutively?"

Gladden has been at this job for, what, 20 years? And he is mediocre on a good day.

He could never get the job because he couldn't do home games. He tried to walk into Target Field but he missed. Then he'd just talk about how he wish he could play little league as an adult. Who's back up now?

Ryan Braun used to do performance enhancing drug. He still does, but he used to too.
