Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Strike to Mauer ?? 2 close to take, Kids got a live armThat wasn't too close to take. It was at the top of the catcher's helmet, maybe even above it.
S. Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Yeah, the was 100% not a strike. Wasn't even borderline.
mrmpls Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Doubt if we see Kopech again , raining hard

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How many of Kopech’s rookie cards do you think Bucknor has? In addition to Mauer, did Sano go around on his first at bat? The Sox broadcast didn’t have the intestinal fortitude to show a replay.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 You know, same day weather forecasting is extremely accurate these days. If I’m the manager and I see that it’s going to pour less than an hour into a game, I probably give the ball to a reliever for an inning or two and bring (arguably) my best guy in after the rain.

But then, I'd not be rostering Grossman at this point, so clearly I know nothing.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Laudner is praising Sano’s fielding after he misplayed a ball into a “hit” less than an hour ago?
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 That wasn't too close to take. It was at the top of the catcher's helmet, maybe even above it. Look at gameday, they have a replay and if you full screen it the strike zone box shows it hit the top line of the zone. Joe is 6'5" after all.

S. Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Man, that catcher sure made that strike look like a ball in that case.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Important start for Berrios. Is he going to be the guy that was borderline dominant in the first half or the guy that has been borderline terrible in his last 5 starts? Is this Berrios first full season on the team, or was he up from the beginning last year?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Is this Berrios first full season on the team, or was he up from the beginning last year?Technically his first full season. He made 6 starts in Rochester to start 2017.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Bremer thought it was a clear swing.Thanks. They only showed the pitch from the CF camera.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How is it possible that Tony Oliva has lived in this country and this STATE for 60-70 years and still speaks broken English? I’m not trying to make any kind of political statement. I just don’t understand how he hasn’t picked up better English over that time.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 I think everyone thought Kepler had that.

I just don’t understand how he hasn’t picked up better English over that time. The older we are the more difficult it is to learn languages to fluency, and English is one of the more difficult languages to learn because of all the exceptions to rules and various other idiosyncrasies in the language. And not everyone is good at it. Despite 7 years of studying French I never became conversant. I could read it fairly well, but speaking, no. Same with my attempts at learning German and Italian.

It is not linked to any real pitch-tracking data AFAIK.
