USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Well, this is it. The final showdown. The biggest sporting event in the world! If not the “Thrillah in Manilla”, then “Our Offense May Be Bland, But Watch Out Cleve-land!” The entire season boils down to this one, three game slug(less)fest at the Jake. Sweep, and the ALC is ours! Get swept…Season. Over. Wait. It’s only June. Never mind. Still, a big series if you’re like me…still clinging to the ridiculous notion that this season isn’t over yet. Buxton will come back and dominate, Dozier will SLG .700 from here on out, the bullpen won’t cough up another lead all season, Rosario and Escobar will maintain .900 OPSs respectively, Mauer will pull a ball into the RF corner, and Sano will cut his K rate down to 50% (in the FSL). Kyle Gibson vs something called Klubey, or Klubbery or something. A nobody I’ve never heard of. We win easily.Get ‘er done! Lineups to follow, by someone please. I won’t have time this afternoon to post them. I’ve got to fix my washing machine, it stopped draining. Once I fix that, I have to find my pet hamster, he’s gone missing.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I got a good feeling about this one. I think Belisle may have only signed a minor league deal with them and stunk it up so he could get released and return to Minnesota with all their secrets.

This Kulber guy? He's going to throw fastballs, breaking balls, and change ups. Down in the zone, and up in the zone. He's going to try to strike you out, and limit the number of baserunners we get. wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 "Are we allowed to score any runs after the first inning?"I'm pretty sure that is against the rules of baseball. It definitely seems like it is anyway. Though, I'd argue that watching this team, at times, qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment and violates the 8th Amendment. Shouldn't the US Constitution override the rules of baseball?

How many hockey points did the Twins get for leading after 1 inning?

Platoon Verified Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Should I go with a transparent or semi-transparent stain for my new deck? If it's applied correctly, you can't see the difference.

Angle grinder with a wire wheel, and Dove dishwashing soap. You don't use the soap on the grill, it's to wash the blood off your hands if you're not careful with the wire wheel.

Great opening Chief, so many optimistic, yet reasonable possibilities for the team to succeed. But you really screwed up with the Mauer to the RF corner idea. Totally ruined the validity of your post. Btw, I don't know what Mrs. Chief is like but when I leave things in my pockets and the wash machine plugs, she gets really unhappy.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 If it's applied correctly, you can't see the difference. The idea would be that I'd get a bit of tint with the semi-transparent. With the transparent, I wouldn't since that basically defeats the purpose of a transparent stain. You're correct otherwise.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Should I use a baking soda/water mixture or standard dishwashing solution to get the crud off my grill grates? Why would you do such a thing? If it doesn't burn off, it's meant to be there! All of that extra flavoring WASTED!
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Should I use a baking soda/water mixture or standard dishwashing solution to get the crud off my grill grates? Depends on your motive and who you're inviting over for dinner. I have an old manual here that says you should "clean-burn" the crud off. Just fire the grill up, set it on high and go to a Twins game. When you come back in an hour or so the grill will be spotless. But if you leave the grill in your garage when you do this, you'll have to dig the grill out from the rubble. Don't ask how I know this.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I realize that Motter's the obvious answer for the second call-up, being on the 40-man and all, but I have to wonder, "What's the point?" Career .198 average. Batting .167 at Rochester. Played 1B in five games and LF in one this year in the majors (and pitched once, so maybe that's the point), though he has played some 2B and 3B at Rochester. But realistically, with both Mondays off between now and when Polanco is eligible to return on July 2, the over/under on at bats Motter is going to get is about 0.5*, so how about bringing up another reliever rather than wasting a roster spot? Or even bring up a third catcher for a look-see. Yeah, the argument is that you need an emergercy back-up infielder, but with Double E's flexibility to play 3B or SS and Adrianza at SS or 2B, can't Garver/Wilson/3rd catcher be the emergency 3B until the end of the game? Heck, didn't Puckett even play a couple of innings in the infield? And with shifts, you could float the emergency guy back and forth between 2B and 3B. If an injury that's more than day-to-day occurs, there would still be time to call up Motter or make the emergency call for Sano. *I'll take the under.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 We used to have a Gerbil. Turns out I hated cleaning the cage, so to simplify the process just kept him in the stainless steel kitchen sink. Sides were too smooth for him to escape and simply had to rinse the sink for cleaning. Seemed to be a flawless plan until early one morning in the dark I was tuning on the light to make coffee, and got the garbage disposal switch mixed up with the counter lights. . I would have swore I put the basket strainer in the night before?
