Bad baseball I'll accept ... it's not something you want to have happen, period. But I prefer not to refer to players as dumb or stupid. <shrug> I'm not admonishing anyone here ... just sayin' what I'm sayin' because it's what I think.

There’s a difference between calling the player dumb or lazy and calling his ACTIONS dumb or lazy. I was doing the latter.

I think the replay system should be tweaked. The replay viewers in New York should not know the call on the field. They should rule safe, out, or inconclusive. Only if they rule inconclusive should the call on the field stand.

Well, maybe they did think it inconclusive. Period. Which isn't enough to overturn the call. They took a long time on it, so that's all I could think of. I doubt he would've been left standing there if they thought he was out, despite the call on the field.

Rogers was the pitcher when the Twins took the lead.

It's true, but when the starter doesn't go 5, the rules allow latitude to the scorer. I won't be surprised if it's Hildenberger.

Isn't there an unwritten rule about sending a runner when it's snowing and you have a 4 run lead?

I am confident that one is unwritten, yes.

Look, I'm aware I come across as having 'strong opinions,' 'am full of it,' or whatever you wanna say.  Honestly, my opinions are mostly formed over more than one game, one AB, or one occurrence.  I try to formulate my opinions over a stretch of time.  Jerk, maybe.  But I try really hard not to be knee-jerk.

Rosario is nearly a five-tool talent.  Not much on a beisbol field the guy can't do.  But he drives me crazy with what I perceive to be a lack of focus, at times.  Throwing to the wrong base, air-mailing throws into the seats, bad baserunning, and tonight, not running out a pop-up that could've been a hugely costly mistake.  Physical errors, I can handle.  Everybody makes those.  I find mental errors inexcusable, especially by Major Leaguers.

I'm not necessarily disputing any of that, but he made the best baseball play by anyone on the team last year when he caused the balk against Milwaukee that won that game. One of the best plays of the year by any player on any team.

Cervelli at bat with the ski mask and those glasses makes it look like the Pirates have sent their CPA into the game.

That would only be the case if the Twins were leading when Odorizzi left. The win is Rogers’ right now.

Why in the world is Reed pitching here? Perfect spot for Pressly/Moya and then Kinley. No reason in the world to pitch Reed in a game in which we are 7-3.

Guess four runs is not enough to see kinley.... Wonder what the score would have to be?

Wimp.

I’ve got enough on my plate with the beer drinking and tobacco dipping, can’t handle any more

I'm gonna disagree here... I think it's a close enough game that I wouldn't want the back-end guys facing Bell and Dickerson.

I think the scorer has latitude only if the less-than-5-inning starter leaves the game with a lead the team never relinquishes.

Crap, my bad. I just re-looked. Rogers is the pitcher of record.

Exactly!  Few players have as many tools at his disposal as Rosario does.  He'll make some of the best plays you'll ever see.  Then he'll pull one that I'd make my Little Leaguers run over for days on end.

As stated, mental errors drive me nutso.  Not running out a pop-up?  That's just plain lazy, and I find lazy impossible to defend.

What is the purpose of having him on the roster then? If he can't hold a 4 run lead for one inning he has no purpose on the roster.

The purpose of having him on the roster this year is to have him on the roster 2 years from now. Whether that's a worthwhile purpose is another matter.

If you're the Padres, or Royals, or White Sox, or any other team not trying to contend, then yes. But the position the Twins are in, no it makes no sense at all.

Okay, folks ... 9th inning coming up ... and then I have to clean the kitchen.

Great, I had been putting off that chore but if you're coming over then I'll leave it in your capable hands.

Managers typically are hyper-careful about using pitchers that haven't fully earned their trust yet.  This would be a big win, especially on the heels of the home-opener tomorrow.  And, keep in mind the weather is not exactly an optimal condition to pitch in today.

Personally, I like the call to try to go for the jugular here. Plenty of time for Kinley, and anyone else, to earn their stripes.

When he shuts the door in the 7th and 8th innings of Game 7 of the 2020 WS, you'll be singing a different tune.

/ I guess?
