Twelve minutes? Throw the ball!

What's amazing is that inning took 28 minutes. The Angels pitcher threw 49 pitches in that inning alone.

The Giants didn't score a single run. And baseball fans wonder why some people think it's too slow of a sport.

Carlos Gomez' walk off HR against the Twins yesterday was the first walk off hit of his career. I don't know if that's some kind of record, but interesting he didn't have one in his previous 4,808 plate appearances.

Correct. The average time/pitch in that AB was almost 40 seconds.

I'm amazed that people find that acceptable- and probably the majority do!

I'm not suggesting they sprint back to the mound and speed pitch, but sometimes these guys take way too long. Unnecessarily long, IMO.

Or maybe they are more rare than we'd figure. I remember last year Mauer got a walk off hit, and he'd gone 10 full years since his previous one.

I saw the White Sox called up former Twin (minor leaguer) Daniel Palka today. I was disappointing we never got to see him reach the majors, but he's not much of a prospect at this point. I guess the Twins didn't win the Chris Herrmann trade after all.

Don't know if this a weather make-up game, cuz there is another game tonight, but there can't be more than 1,000 people in PNC watching the Pirates Sox. It is cold and gloomy, but good game, 9-7 in the 6th.

Probably takes them back to their Florida State League games to those who played there.

LA SS Corey Seager will miss the rest of the season to undergo Tommy John. Always sucks when fun, great young players are lost for a season.

Matt Harvey DFA.... Because some teams care about getting rid of players who are done physically....

Well, it's not all physical problems with him.

Still....wow, what a precipitous fall for this kid.

If he could pitch, they'd still have him. This is professional sports. Imo

I'd argue they wouldn't give up on that potential if not for the off-field stuff.  Then again, he's also an unrestricted FA after this year, so they're probably just getting ahead of their decision either way.  (To their credit and your point)

And his velocity trends tend to suggest there is no potential/recovery/hope left.

Not particularly comparable situations IMO. For example, if Harvey somehow turned things around later this season, there's no way the Mets would benefit in 2019.

Took in the Astros-DBacks ga.e tonight. Had great seats from which to watch Garret Cole fan 16 Diamondbacks. Still throwing 95 in the 9th.

Teams that take themselves seriously find a way to make those kinds of trades. Cole and Verlander added and I seriously doubt anyone in Houston is wringing their hands over the prospect cost.

Someday I hope the Twins will be one of those teams.

It really did not cost them but one good prospect in Franklin Perez.   There is no need for hand wringing nor accusing anyone of hand wringing.  How does one get to the point of having another team overvalue your players when making a trade.  That should be the complaint. Detroit regular got something for nothing from Miami. If a prospect has fallen off the prospect list, you gave up nothing for something. AA, AA, AAA and some A+ unranked prospects just that for a reason. Great if someone else values them.

Re: TOS Surgery Candidates:

It seems to have killed the careers of Matt Harvey and Phil Hughes.

However, Tyson Ross, another TOS pitcher is having a revival season with San Diego after a disastrous couple of years.

His velocity is still down from before, but IMO what's brought him back to life is his offspeed stuff. Something Phil Hughes never really had, and Harvey probably didn't either.

actually, my complaint is that the Twins under Ryan would never have made either trade. I'm getting the sense they won't under Falvine either.

I want them to aim big, not settle for Odorizzi because he came cheap. I want them in there fighting for Verlander because that kind of trade deadline move makes a difference, not dumping a starter and closer on a contending team for minor league roster filler.

Watching the #20 Gophers beat up on #17 Indiana - they have this freshman starter out of Washington, Patrick Fredrickson, throwing a 1 hit shutout. His season so far, not counting today: 6-0, 1.61 ERA. He went un-drafted out of high school. 6'6" redhead.  :) Doesn't look to have big velocity, but he must be doing something right. Only 44 hits allowed in over 60 IP.

Gophers winning 8-0 in the 6th.

If I lived in the Cities, I would definitely pay a visit to Siebert Field.

see that the Royals put up 10 runs (and 4 HRs) up in the first inning against the Orioles so I go look for the equivalent of TwinsDaily for O's fans.

The despair is as bad as it was here a week ago, but the language, as they say, leaves much to be desired. A much higher class of fan here. Minnesota nice or something.

Oh, and I checked in on the game on TV and Camden Yards is all but empty this evening. A nasty tumble for a great franchise.

Okay, watching la gran final of Mexican soccer on Univision, and suddenly the tomahawk chop breaks out, same melody, same gesture by the fans. Bizarro.

Do the Braves still push that?
