I haven't seen any announcement that Maddux was fired (other than the link provided ).  It's not on the Nationals site, it's not on in the article on the Nationals site that said that Baker got fired.

Sure seems like there are some interesting and high quality candidates out there. I was expecting Carl Willis to be the front runner based on reputation and FO familiarity with him, as well as being a candidate 3 years ago. But Maddux is, to say the least, an intriguing candidate. I could be on board with him.

Very interesting. Would his brother come by every now and then?

When they stated that Baker's contract was up and would not be renewed, they also stated that the contracts of the entire coaching staff also expired at the end of 2017. They then stated the new manager would select their own coaching staff.

Mike is obviously extremely well-regarded and very knowledgeable and experienced.  I'd say if anything might hold the Twins back, it's that I assume Maddux is of a very old-school approach.  I'd hope they'll at least be inquiring.

Nothing more tied to analytics, modern camera slow mo, and data than pitching.

They will bring in someone well-versed in the science of baseball pitching.

Guarantee it.

What does your guarantee pay us if you're wrong?

I say go for it!

Otherwise, see if Rick Anderson is available. Or bring back Dick Such!

Rosterman!

I've always appreciated your posts, until now.

You've lost all credibility.

Alas...  (I suspect you were being sarcastic)

is this pro or con Maddux?

Being able to make the information relevant and providing a plan of action to the pitchers is the important skill here.

He doesn’t need to be an analyst, there will be a team of those in the FO.

Having the starters while on the bench chart hitter/pitch tendencies seems rather new school, as far as using time on the bench productively rather than sitting there and screwing around.

I respect the hell out of Maddux but really, I'm hoping the front office is smarter than me and finds a person I've never heard of before.

That's how I feel. Obviously I know who Mike Maddux is, the player. But pitching coach? I have no idea if he's an good at it. I don't see this as something to be particularly excited about without knowing more.
