Too funny not to share...

After he is confirmed, expect to see visuals like this (minus the snarky captions) in campaign materials from here until the first week of November.

Absolutely. Very "meme-able" picture. Is meme-able a word?

I listened top the past few hours of and on and wow.... He is a total douche. His combative attitude toward legitimate, easy questions by democrats makes me wish I met him in college. I really think the democrats need to bite back at him, and not allow him to stall and Bull**** the entire time.

There is no doubt he engaged in parties when he was younger, and that he is practically lying about it.... without it being necessary. I was on the fence with him before about executive power, and conflict of interest. Now, I'm completely against him based on his testimony alone not to mention Ford's.

I listened to a large portion of his initial confirmation hearings and left pretty neutral on him overall. I didn't agree with him but considered him an acceptable candidate.

He showed his true colors today and wow, they're not pretty. He seems like a pretty terrible guy.

This is depressing and I feel like I need to shower.

Trump just tweeted how powerful, honest and riveting Kavanugh's testimony was.  None of them care how clearly powerful honest and riveting and devastated Ford appeared to be.  The GOP did not even try to appear to be looking for the search having a prosecutor question Ford while they held Kavanaugh's hand.

And flake the fake and all the others will be exposed as being just as right wing as the most right winger....

I'm sorry, but I never had much doubt they would tote the Trump line when it's all said and down.  Senate and Congress work for Trump, which of course isn't supposed to be how it works at all.  They aren't supposed to work for the President, they are supposed to work in the best interest of their constituents.

Me neither. Not at all. And yet, we keep hearing they are not the same....

He'll be confirmed tomorrow

It's just the Judiciary Committee vote.  Kavanuagh will have to survive through the weekend likely, although there is some talk of a Saturday vote.

The Editors: It is time for the Kavanaugh nomination to be withdrawn from the American Magazine: The Jesuit Review

Judge Kavanaugh continues to enjoy a legal presumption of innocence, but the standard for a nominee to the Supreme Court is far higher; there is no presumption of confirmability. The best of the bad resolutions available in this dilemma is for Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to be withdrawn.

If Senate Republicans proceed with his nomination, they will be prioritizing policy aims over a woman’s report of an assault. Were he to be confirmed without this allegation being firmly disproved, it would hang over his future decisions on the Supreme Court for decades and further divide the country. Even if one thinks that Dr. Blasey's allegations are not credible, demonstrating them not to be would require further investigations and testimony. This would include calling additional witnesses and assessing further allegations against Judge Kavanaugh from other women, to which Republicans on the committee have been unwilling to commit and which would be divisive in any case

My instincts still say the GOP will go through with confirming him, but organizations who supported him are changing their mind.  They better vote soon, because by Monday, the country may be firmly against him.

I dunno. I think it'll be hard for a Collins and company to defend their vote if they vote for him. They are under incredible pressure and his testimony didn't make their lives easier. We'll see what happens but I think they don't have the votes and will actually get a delay before Monday.

But I'm the optimist. I thought the Twins might be good this year. :-)

Bold prediction:

The Senate Committee puts off their vote, Trump pulls the Kavanaugh nomination.

This didn't age well.

This didn't age well.

In this Republican Age it appears best to just resign ourselves to the assumption that whatever the most stupid, incomprehensible option available....is the one to bet they'll choose.

I honestly don't get it. Why are they going out to die for this guy? It is so controversial at this point, his favorability rating is probably terrible, Gorsuch is also a partisan but didn't have near this level of resistance from the start... Not a single Democrat will vote for him, and even the most vulnerable wont be damaged one bit by it. This is just absurd.

I listened to the reactions on a late drive home last night. Conservatives are saying his performance, and Lindsay Graham, saved his nomination. I think his performance showed why he shouldn't be confirmed, not because he's guilty, but because of who he is as a person. Lindsay Graham's performance shows just how rotten DC has become. He is right about Feinstein, but accusing the Democrats of the biggest sham is idiotic, considering his party only 2 years ago had a nominee they refused to even meet with for months. Nice grandstand Lindsey. Your donors should reward you graciously.

What a travesty.

It also occurs to me that Senate Republicans are treating this vote the same way Kavanaugh and his frat buddies treated sex: maneuver the women into a vulnerable spot, make sure they are outnumbered and there are other men around for safety and support, and when the critical moment comes, mute their speech, don't give them a chance to say no, get it over with fast, and then deny it. Or better yet, forget it ever happened. If you are confronted about it later, get outraged or make excuses. The buddies who were there with you will have your back.

Will Collins and Murkowski vote no today? Or will they let this happen and regret it later? Sounds like Manchin, Democrat from WV, is also apparently on the fence. Like I said, a complete travesty.

I am pretty sure I said this would happen. It’s a bit of a liberal loop here, but this man is not credible in his denial, but it doesn’t matter. “We have the votes, we make the facts.”

One thing that I have noticed is how many women have stories like this. I was speaking with a female lawyer friend of mine and she told me some things that happened to her when she was a young intern that would never happen to a man.

Dr. Ford's testimony about the incident sounded so real I can't believe she's lying and I don't think she's mistaking Kavanaugh for someone else. Kavanaugh's anger fit the narrative of entitled prep kid so well that I think he was fully capable of doing what she alleged. And he's probably going to be a judge on the supreme court. Gads.

Brilliantly stated.

After watching the GOP buckle under AGAIN and show that they literally have no spine when it comes to Trump and McConnell, I'm up to 90% sure he'll be confirmed.

This is ridiculous. I just hope enough of the country is paying attention that the GOP pays a heavy price for it in six weeks.

I'm not surprised. Not at all. This isn't about what is best for all, it's about what is best for them. It's about power and control.

They are siding with whatever story fits what they want to believe. They want Kavanaugh so they believe him and she's a liar. And that's that.
