wavedog Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 That was ball 4 as well but Dozier decided to swing at a pitch he couldn't reach. I guess it is coming up there at 100 h2oface 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Mauer coming through in the clutch!
Danchat Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Possibly the worst swing I've ever seen from dozier. Twins should decline their postseason berth next year if they match up with NY. For all of us. I notice the rah rah fans have long since signed offYeah, I didn't mention at the time but all of the positivity the folks here had before the game started was unfounded. Yankees clearly have a superior team, Twins just can't win games in Yankee stadium, plus we're a Minnesotan sports team, we don't win playoff series and win new ways to screw things up. I projected us to lose 6-3, so losing 8-4 is pretty close. GardyParty 1

GardyParty Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Mauer with a hit with nothing happening. Have we ever seen that before? Danchat 1
wavedog Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Who called the meaningless 2 out hit? 3 more and a HR! Danchat 1

But throw in the mental part and maybe now I see why the vegas line was what it was Platoon 1
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Not that you would pinch run down by 4, but it should be noted that the Twins could not have if they had wanted.

Danchat Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Another ball called as a strike... thought the ump was supposed to be consistent. h2oface 1
LaBombo Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) I projected us to lose 6-3, I projected the Twins to get lost and then mugged on the way to the stadium, so I was thrilled when they showed up in the dugout. As always, Game Thread made it fun anyway. Thanks for a great season, everyone! Edited October 4, 2017 by LaBombo Hosken Bombo Disco, Jerr, Mike Sixel and 1 other 4
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Dang. Overall, good season. Something to build upon for the coming years. Hopefully Buxton is ok. Danchat, snepp and LaBombo 3
GardyParty Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I hate the yankees... so... so.... much Good year for the twins. Thanks for the unexpected playoff run. The top 4 teams left in the playoffs are leaps and bounds better than the twins. LaBombo and Danchat 2

Now in 3 postseason starts he's given up 14 runs. GardyParty and h2oface 2

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Great Year!!! Sad to see it end. The Yankees will give the Indians all they can handle. Danchat, Puckett34, snepp and 2 others 5
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Good season, major improvements for the core position players. Solid second year for Berrios, plus a possible good mid-ro guy in Mejia. Surprising production and improvements from Polanco, better plate discipline from Rosario, Mauer's bat is back, Sano's future looks bright. Young team on the rise, needs more pitching. See ya next year! snepp 1
wavedog Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Well it was a really good season! Somewhat bitter but expected ending with the usual performance against the Yankees. Jerr and snepp 2
RaoulDuke Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Disappointing but not that surprising result. It was awesome to see them come right out of the gate firing, and then the fact that we are still a pitching staff away from competing showed up. snepp 1
rghrbek Verified Member Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Great unexpected season, no complaints here (shocking I know). It will be interesting to see what happens with Molly. If he does not have an extension in the next day or so, my guess is he won't. I think I am indifferent either way as FalVine need to do what they think is best but it will be interesting. At least another reason for us to check TD every day! Go Cleveland! snepp 1

They are all disciplined professional hitters. Even their young guys. They have been for like ever. The Twins are getting there, but maybe half the lineup is disciplined. That’s a problem, especially in the postseason. Jerr and LaBombo 2

Agree, and if we can build on this season, and pick up some better pitching and keep everyone healthy then next year could be the one. snepp 1
