dgwills Provisional Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Yeah, I'm not too upset about passing on Greene. I wanted a college pitcher so I'll be ok with McKay. I might want three college pitchers, depending on how the draft falls.I want them to draft Greene, but I'm with you. Any of these guys has a chance to be elite. Mckay has chances on both sides of the ball. It's all about getting the odds in your favor. If you do that enough you will be a contender.
dgwills Provisional Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Sounds like we're going Lewis per Gleeman and Law I'm pretty excited. What!?
twinsbaby Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 If Baseball America is true, we will take Lewis as No.1 pick. Ugh... diehardtwinsfan 1
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Toolsy HS kid. Again. If true, What has changed here, exactly? jimmer 1
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Man, if they take Lewis they better have a damn good explanation and if they don't spend all of their draft pool I'm going to go ballistic. 70charger and markos 2
tytybuckets Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Lewis is going to be a stud hopefully the savings get us two pitchers with top of the rotation potential and I will be ecstatic. AZTwin and bird 2

After pick 40 or so, it is a random walk. gunnarthor and markos 2
AZTwin Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 It's an underslot deal and supposedly killed it in workouts. Big fan of the pick especially if it's underslot and we get good high school pitching at 35 or 37. The top pitching prospects didn't do much for me this year. Carneal&Gordon 1
King Provisional Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I have a hard time believing that they haven't made a decision yet.

'Despite the fact that California high-schooler Hunter Greene is the consensus top prospect in this year’s MLB Draft class, the Twins apparently aren’t interested in making him the first high-school right-handed pitcher ever to be selected first overall. That’s been publicly known for a while now. It was more widely thought, however, that Minnesota might be interested in Vanderbilt right-hander Kyle Wright, who is unanimously ranked as the top collegiate righty in this draft class.' I don't want to go cheap at 1/1 just so I can get the #29 guy at 35. Top guys tumble on their own - Hudson, Buehler, Funkhowser, etc. Mike Sixel 1

I just hope they get plus talent in those spots. gunnarthor, markos, 70charger and 1 other 4

howieramone2 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 that they traded for Arrieta and can afford to sign Lester?Let's see them put together a IFA class like we did in 2009. gunnarthor 1

jimmer Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) With our pitching the way it is, the idea that this team would take a position player at 1:1 ticks me off. I have wanted Greene for long time and that hasn't changed! Edited June 12, 2017 by jimmer Mike Sixel and gunnarthor 2
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 The Twins wouldn't take Lewis (assuming they do) if they liked one of the pitchers a lot. So while they certainly should maximize their bonus pool, I don't think it's accurate to see Lewis as a budget-oriented selection. Tibs 1

Darius Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I have a sneaking suspicion that they're not going to take who everyone expects (Wright or McKay). I just don't know how how you can justify taking one of those two with the #1 overall pick. The upside isn't there. It's got to be Greene or Lewis in my mind. I'd also consider Gore, but it sounds like he's out. I'm probably wrong, because Twins, but that's my two cents. Hosken Bombo Disco 1

Kwak Verified Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Lewis will have to climb over a lot of SS. i wonder if the new FO will punt on the previous "talents" that were deemed to be future studs.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Well, if the report that the scouts wanted Lewis and analytics wanted McKay is true, it means that Falvey is getting swayed by his scouts. I mean, maybe Lewis is the next Jeter but this seems like a bad pick for the Twins. Vanimal46 1
