Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Is this the draining of the swamp part, or the falling into the abyss part? Hard to tell.Yes. Edit: partially ninja'd by Craig.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Are you kidding me? I hammered at the Jackson/Trump comparison for months as a reason to never, ever vote for Trump. Andrew Jackson was a bad, bad man. And I'm not even talking about his military actions before he became president. He was a lying, awful toad of a human being. You're just saying that because he was a murderer and was proud of it.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 How do they expect to actually run these departments? There are A LOT of things unique about STATE that some random manager can't know about at all..... edit: we'll just have to rely on life-long "lazy" federal employees, I guess... Well that's the rub right? You don't have to run them if you make them cease to exist.... (And some of them certainly could be condensed or shuttered altogether. Others need more authority)

What do we need a State Department for now? I thought it was clear that we're losing all contact with the rest of the world for the next four years.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 News today is that Trump and his inner circle are using their own email server. This is probably worth pointing out to the rabid anti-Hillary people who could think of nothing else.
drjim Provisional Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 On the plus side, Defense seems in good hands. I do wonder if some of the Departments can be scaled back or even eliminated. But I would like to see this down a little more strategically, a little less on the haphazard side. Ultimately this will all be fine for the Administration and Republicans until an actual crisis occurs. That's probably why they want to jam everything through so quickly. Once a blunder happens they're all going down.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Hasn't it also been reported that he himself is using an unsecured android phone for his tweets? I fully agree the phone he tweets from should be securely in the hands of someone else.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Or just redirect it to /dev/null and maybe he won't notice.

I am fairly confident if he was a member of the TwinsDaily webpage, one of the moderators would have responded and taken action about his ability to comment by now.

Doomtints Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Knowing my RW friends, they won't care....even a little.Or they will say, "Eh, both sides are corrupt... what can you do?" and then prattle on a bit more about the evil liberals.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Knowing my RW friends, they won't care....even a little. But I am guessing they might question the credibility of Bannon's, recently saying the media "among the most dishonest people on earth.”, and say -- wasn't he part of Brietbart, a "news" organization that arguably is not completely objective, perhaps he is being a bit hypocritical.

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 So Trump is planning a 20% tax on Mexican imports, according to CNN. I wonder how long it'll take the business community to get him to change that. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/26/politics/donald-trump-mexico-import-tax-border-wall/index.html

Maybe less than a day.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Better stock up in the Tequila America, for more than a few reasons.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I bet the tea party is pissed right now.....I mean 20% tariff is quite the tax hike!
ashbury Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I can show you how that works if you like.C'mon. Who is going to object to "Make the Twins Great Again"? "Drain the Swamp" could work too. "It's Going To Be YUGE! Big League, I'm telling you." "We're going to build the wall". Hey, bringing in the fences a few feet might result in more HR for Mauer. And if "we're going to make the White Sox pay for it" can work, I'm all for it. "Lock Her Up." OK, I got nothin'.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 On the refugee issue, I really liked this one. It's dated but it's coming around again. Sadly.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Better stock up in the Tequila America, for more than a few reasons. Remember the good old days when the main reasoin you needed to stock up on alcohol was to make it through the Twins season?
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Remember the good old days when the main reasoin you needed to stock up on alcohol was to make it through the Twins season?Back in the day, we drank because it was Vikings season and Disco Darren didn't catch the damn ball.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 It's darn close, but I think he is stopped short by that hit. No replay!

Now that he's a politician they call that kind of convincing "campaign contributions" not bribes.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 And now he's tweeting attacks at Mexico. In all seriousness, what the ****? This is the President of the United States? Can't we just impeach him now and let Pence screw everyone over instead?
