Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Somehow I doubt you will have to wait long. I was not overly optimistic about this administration, but I did not think government or park employees would need to go rouge to get out information in less than a week into the administration into order to get scientific facts out to the public. I guess the sales for 1984 have really spiked this week. i did. and people said I was paranoid.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 i did. and people said I was paranoid. What does one have to do with the other?
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Anyways back on topic, these first 5 days feel like the longest 5 days ever.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Just wait until they start virtually giving away federal lands, which we can never get back....
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Anyways back on topic, these first 5 days feel like the longest 5 days ever.Yeah ... I split off all those WWII comments to form a separate thread. It was a pretty lengthy discussion, good in its own right, so gave it its own thread.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Any WWIII comments should still stay in the Trump thread, though.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Just wait until they start virtually giving away federal lands, which we can never get back.... Is it too much to ask Teddy Roosevelt to come back with his big stick and haunt him? Do you think Trump realized comparing oneself to Andrew Jackson might not be all positive, esp. when he is issuing orders that have Native American issues? I am not sure what would be worse, Trump having such a superficial knowledge of history that he is not familiar with Andrew Jackson's well-known dark side, or embracing him because of it.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Any WWIII comments should still stay in the Trump thread, though. Oh, thanks for being ever so cheery this morning!!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Any WWIII comments should still stay in the Trump thread, though. I think the War with Mexico will come first ... forcing them to pay for a wall he wants to build ... yup ... free/cheap labor ... that's how it works for him. Or better yet ... let's contract Mexico to build it, then file for bankruptcy so we don't have to pay for it, thus, they are on the hook for it.

drjim Provisional Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 So in 6 days he got an ally to cancel a diplomatic visit and all the senior level employees at the State Department have resigned. Diplomacy is off to a flying start.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Either way, I'm confident he has a plan. You are being sarcastic, right?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The next 4 years Yeah ... but the speed is off. This won't happen in slo-mo.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Do you think Trump realized comparing oneself to Andrew Jackson might not be all positive, esp. when he is issuing orders that have Native American issues? Are you kidding me? I hammered at the Jackson/Trump comparison for months as a reason to never, ever vote for Trump. Andrew Jackson was a bad, bad man. And I'm not even talking about his military actions before he became president. He was a lying, awful toad of a human being.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Yeah ... but the speed is off. This won't happen in slo-mo.Over the course of 4 years this is exactly what it will seem like. In your dreams this is going to flash before your eyes.

drjim Provisional Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 You are being sarcastic, right?Yes. He talks with no meaning. He is a terrying combo of bad ideas, narcissism, no impulse control, and general ineptitude.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The general ineptitude is helpful. In my work, I do a lot of immigration stuff and, if nothing else, he telegraphing of his ****ty actions has really helped us highlight concerns immigrants face. His fear mongering of Syrian children has to be the lowest point for the White House in a very long time. I cannot get over how ****ing awful you must be as a human being to see these children and say, 'nah, it's too dangerous to bring them here.' There better be a special layer of hell for men like that.

It's a well-established fact that the only way to prevent children from growing up to become our enemies is to tell them they're not welcome and that they are our enemies.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Jim Jefferies is awesome. His bit on America and guns is hilarious.

I'm not proud of the actions of my fellow Evangelicals this election cycle, but I suspect this would be an issue where a massive wedge could be driven if it is opposed correctly. Not all, perhaps not even majority, but enough to cause serious cracks in the coalition. Plus, as you said, it is just a terrible, evil position to take.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 How do they expect to actually run these departments? There are A LOT of things unique about STATE that some random manager can't know about at all..... edit: we'll just have to rely on life-long "lazy" federal employees, I guess...
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Is this the draining of the swamp part, or the falling into the abyss part? Hard to tell.
