jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 That was hilarious. Altuve smokes a ball off the CF wall, stupid throw home by the cutoff, then Centeno throws the ball about where the left fielder usually stands...

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 that kind of play.....that kind of play begs for a conclusion that the MLB staff, and the MiLB staff are not good coaches, doesn't it?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I would rather listen to the radio broadcast than to the Houston homies, but as soon as I connect the audio feed, it's 20 seconds earlier than the video feed, so I hear Max Kepler flies out just as I see him step to the plate. Grrrrrrrr..... Back to the Houston homies.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Astros ambushing Berrios, hitting a lot of line drives. Something other than fastballs on the first pitch, Jose? Boy, they sure are hitting that Berrios slider hard.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I suddenly have a strange wish that it would rain...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 just once it would be cool if a top prospect they drafted came up and was good from the start, and stayed good (note, I said drafted, different scouts in the US vs overseas...).
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 It appears that Berrios is a bust or it could be a small sample size, take your pick.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Wasn't everyone saying this game wouldn't start 5-0?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I think we're beginning to see why Rosario Buxton Kepler is a better outfield than Grossman Rosario Kepler. Grossman's defense looks a lot like Oswaldo Arcia's.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Wasn't everyone saying this game wouldn't start 5-0?Groundhog Day! I'm going to go grab my umbrella.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Great, we lose yesterday's 5-0 and now we're down 6-0. We could use another rain-out.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 OF defense doesn't matter....come on people!
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Once again, the puzzling disconnect between MiLB and MLB performance is on display. Why can't we just have nice things?
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 So....do we burn Albers this game, save him for the next one or have him pitch in both?
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Once again, the puzzling disconnect between MiLB and MLB performance is on display. Why can't we just have nice things?Pure dominance in the minors, and pure garbage in the majors. I think I've seen that before.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 So....do we burn Albers this game, save him for the next one or have him pitch in both? This isn't Albers' fault, put away the matches.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 ugh, I honestly thought milone was starting this game when I saw the score. I thought our can't miss pitching prospect had game 2. yes it's too early to call any of these guys busts, but gotta wonder who's evaluating the talent in these guys so highly to have them come up and completely stink.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 berrios might not get an out here before he's yanked. and his era will be over 10 if any of these runners score. simply brutal start to his career.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Two things I'd like out of the new GM. First: he knows more about baseball than Dave St Peter. Two: he/she does a total re-do of the minor league pitching development guys.

Bill Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Berrios totally shut down Correa!

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Or how do you have a 1.5 ERA or whatever in AAA, with good stuff, and then just be awful in the majors?I would assume it's a mental thing, which of course it typical with young guys. But if you're going to fold like a wet newspaper in a mid august game when you're almost 20 games out, that doesn't say much for his mental toughness overall, which I would imagine is every bit as important in a scouting report as any physical trait.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I suppose I could just mute the chuckling Houston homies and listen to something else... light jazz... I wonder if ogerish.com is still around? Photos of gruesome crash victims might cheer me up.
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 We can hope these are growing pains but a 9.32 ERA is pretty disappointing. Looks like we are saving Albers - no burning
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 What's with Berrios, anyway? I understand early career jitters, but did he really get to the bigs throwing pitches this flat? Major leaguers just LOVE pitches with a nice, flat trajectory. How does that translate into Berrios being a front line starter? This ledge is high, and birds seem to have no trouble... ;-)
