Wow...dozens of Texas fans still in attendance.

I was a little surprised how many empty seats there were, early in the game. It's not like the weather is unseasonable today. If the fans don't show up for a division leader, do they ever?

He just doesn't want the first half to end.

He hates the AS break, like all true baseball fans.

I'm even truer than that. I hate the AS Game.

Lots of game thread volunteer opportunites left for the second half!!

When the miraculous second half playoff push is in mid, uh, push...don't get left out!!!

I got that beat. I hate the AS Game lineup introductions when everybody claps for the players.

Umm, you actually watch that? Even though you hate it?

OK, a couple of fun facts. With their domination of the Rangers, the Twins have passed a team in overall record--they nosed ahead of the Reds by half a game. Secondly, the Twins run differential is less than that of the Rays! Progress!

I actually watched the most parts of 2 games this series. Could this be some kind of resurrection?

I certainly think near .500 ball the second half is in reach. Really depends on what is done with the pitching.

All the Twins TV types have been talking about how much they love the ASG. Of course, guess who's broadcasting the game. Hint: the same network that owns the Twins' TV rights.

I wouldn't be surprised people in the industry like it. Just like the Oscars, the Grammys, etc.

I used to like the All Star game back in the 70's. Now it's just another boring "event" in the broadcast industry.

I was talking about myself watching the games again, but I do share your optimism on what you are saying.  :)

If you have access to a video of the play there's this:

Determine the distance the ball traveled and divide it by the time it took for the ball to get from his hand to the first baseman's mitt. Each of those numbers would need to be accurate to three significant figures. The distance would probably pretty easy to estimate accurately but you'd need to determine the time to the nearest hundredth of a second and that would be much more difficult. The stopwatch app on my iPhone does go to hundredths of a second but you'd probably have to take numerous readings and average them. In theory there could be a way for someone to get the time electronically from the video but I don't know anything about that first hand.

My son and I tried to figure it out. Looked like he field it about 15-20 feet behind third. And we came up with about 1.25 seconds for the throw (high was 1.33, low was 1.18). It came out to about 80mph. I think we may have calculated wrong.
