Crowdsourcing the Twins

Crowdsourcing: The process of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, especially an online community, rather than from employees or suppliers.

What if the Twins had a GM who, when no one was looking, simply used the Twins Daily website to crowdsource his decisions based on the collective analysis put forward and prevalent sentiment presented on this site? What would have played out differently this season (Plouffe traded? May starting?) and would the Twins be in a better place?

Hmmm...

So, my guess is that everyone would have been signed via free agency and by now they all would have been released or traded. Two or three managers and coaching staffs would have been fired...

Seems accurate. I would also think 50% of the crowd gets frustrated and quits when it's determined that Plouffe, Suzuki, and Nolasco isn't enough to acquire Jose Fernandez.

It depends how far you want to go back of course and it's impossible to know what trades were possible. I'd say Plouffe, Nolasco, Suzuki, and Perkins are not on the team. A bunch of other guys would of needed a vote since there was not a clear consensus. There's always people who wanted to rebuild vs those who wanted quicker results.

The one certainty is that Brian Duensing would of been included in all trade proposals.

Dollar Dog Days would be Monday through Saturday!

In true Twins fashion, of course they'd be more expensive on family day.

By and large I think the decisions would put the 2017/2018 Twins in a better position.

I am not sure if this is really up for debate

If a group of 10 rational guys on Twins Daily had all of the info that Terry Ryan has had and voted on each decision, with a 7-3 majority required, then I'm fairly certain the organization would be in a better place.

The question then would be, would we actually be able to decide and agree on who is considered rational?  Would we need a super-majority for appointment confirmation?  Ground rules would be needed.  How do we decide on ground rules?  This could get bloody.

Jim Pohlad would make these decisions of course!    He's not afraid of making big decisions

How silly of me.  Of course he's the right guy to make that call!

Initial anarchy, cautious alliances, eventually leading to 2 opposing parties who will disagree out of principle on ever free agent, draft pick, and roster move, mostly out of spite for the other.  The Torii Hunter Party will advocate for no batting coaches and free swinging plate approaches as team founders Kirby Puckett and Harmon Killebrew had wanted.  Also no gays in the locker room.  The Joe Mauer party will advocate for mandatory walk rates, a team-wide ban on swinging at first pitches, and a paid day off every Sunday when the kids come watch.  Mauer Party will suggest that the highest paid players on the team each give back some of their salary to the young players to incentivize player development.  Of course Mauer would be exempt from this because he's Joe Mauer and he always gets a free pass.  The Torii Hunter Party will advocate signing and retaining every vet in the organization in the interest of team security and to establish culture and leadership.  They'll oppose each other at every corner and propose ludicrous trades to each other just out of spite.  Hunter will suggest building a wall around the entire Twins organization to keep our players here.  Mauer will refuse to hand over a bunch of private emails detailing god knows what after BALCO accusations, and pretty soon both sides will be making plans to move the team to Winnipeg.  Eventually, Jesse Ventura will end up as GM somehow.

The average player on the team would have less than 2 years of MLB playing experience and the team would be paying $60+ Million to players who are no longer on the team.

Depending on how that would be accomplished, I might be all for that over the current circumstances.
