On a related topic, I don't suppose there's a Bryce Harper type coming along for the 2017 draft, is there? I got a feeling the Twins may have a very high draft pick a year from now.

 

When a team's this bad, maybe the league should let them have the first five draft picks. Then in a few years they could at least be mediocre.

I think I'm going to start watching some Cubs games. Heckuva team. it's fun to watch really good baseball. I wonder if any Twins players watch teams like the Cubs and the Giants. They should. It's instructive to see how the game should be played.

I finally stopped wondering and did the research myself.

 

OTDIH 13 years ago, the Detroit Tigers had just lost their second game of a series in Cleveland to make their record 9-34. At that point in the season, they had been outscored by opponents by 86 runs.

 

The Twins just lost their second game in a series against Toronto, but our record is 10-31, and we've only been outscored by 75.

 

My heartfelt apologies, fellow martyrs. We're not about to make history.

 

As we all know, the Tigers' record for that year was 43-119, coming just one loss shy of tying the '62 Mets for most losses in modern major league history and finishing 47 games behind a different Twins team.
