So:

The starter with the highest upside in the organization fixed his mechanics and is being lights out and the Twins are sending him to the pen to screw him up again?

I hope that this is not the case and that he starts tomorrow (in his turn) with Milone in the pen or outta here.

Wait, he finally gets right as a starter, and they put him in the bullpen?

If the plan was to have him in the bullpen, why didn't he, I don't know, pitch out of the bullpen?

He or Berrios has the most UPSIDE of any SP in the organization.......ugh.

I'm not sure.  I think the simplest take on this is that the Twins need arms and Meyer's the best arm to bring up today that can help.  In the long run, we'll see.  If Milone has another crap start, I think he'll be replaced - either by Meyer or Berrios.

(As for why they made him start, it was to get him more innings.  Even if they never wanted him to start at the ML level again, that made sense.)

But I do hope he gets some starts.

that's fair. I admit, I am having a hard time giving this FO any benefit of the doubt right now.

Duffey, imo, is a RP long term, if they need a RP, he should be the guy.

Still an open 40 man spot.

What else?

Neal is reporting thatSantana will be activated (most likely Kepler to AAA).  Murphy will get the call up before May 1 and added to 40 man roster (Buxton likely headed to AAA).

Meyer was actually on track to start today on regular rest (an off day for Rochester).  A contingency plan should have been in place for an extra innings game on Sunday, that Milone would be available out of the pen with Meyer getting the call to start Monday.

It's nice to see Meyer promoted, but I share the reservations of others about messing with his role yet again.

If they keep Milone to only twice through the lineup then Meyer should be able to piggyback and get a couple innings while having a bailout if needed. Not a terrible way to get his feet wet.

A rebuilding team, already out of the playoffs in all likelihood, is about to call up a 34 yo "OF" that isn't all that good? Cool. Makes moving out of state much easier.

If they are moving him to long man so they can leave a rotation spot for Berrios that is fine.  If he spends more than a month there I will start worrying

I think what the Twins want to see is if Meyer can routinely get MLB hitters out. I think after last year the Twins don't trust Meyer to start, but want to see what he can do as a reliever for now. If Meyer can pitch well in relief now, he may start games a little later this season. Of course that also is dependant on how well Berrios pitches. If Berrios dominates from here on out it would be tough for even Meyer to get starts over Berrios as Berrios up to now is a more proven starting pitcher than Meyer is now.

David Murphy, of course.  Another LH corner OF bat to add to Rosario and Arcia.

You mean, like Berrios is promoted within the week?  I could get behind that, but otherwise I see no reason to mess with Meyer right now just because we're trying to salvage something from Tommy Milone as a rotation fixture.

Well, when  your LFer and CFer have sub 60 OPS+, you probably have to do something.  Obviously, Murphy is a stop gap but might be able to hit better than that for a month or so.

I'd rather see Arcia and Sano and Rosario every day, wins be damned. Arcia has a small chance to be really good......

That could happen.  Arcia/Rosario/Sano with Murphy on the bench and Buxton in AAA.

There will certainly be an article, but not until we know the rest of the moves, we'll wait.

I'd say this... my guess is that Milone starts tonight, and Meyer piggybacks after him. I think it's a huge start for Milone and it's very possible that if things don't go well, and Meyer comes in and does alright, he could jump into the rotation this coming weekend in MIlone's spot.

If Milone and Meyer don't do well, it's possible Berrios is up by this weekend.

For now, the Twins need guys who can eat some innings for a couple of days because O'Rourke and Tonkin are unavailable and well, the bullpen just needs help.

Have you check how Murphy has been hitting AAA pitching lately?

5 innings out of the pen tomorrow night is about the right # of innings to get him comfortable for a start 5 days later.

I actually hope that is the plan.  A quasi-start to rest the pen

Tomorrow night is Nolasco, who has pitched into the 7th inning in all 3 starts so far.

Tonight is Milone, who has failed to complete 5 innings in 2 of his 3 starts.

I wonder, will Meyer be in town and ready for tonight?  Haven't seen any official announcement yet.

Swap O Rourke with Rogers,  send Duffey and Milone to the pen, swap Fien with Chargois, swap Tonkin (and his 40-man spot) with Burdi, and you got some fresh arms...

That's what baffles me, if he doesn't improve, when May 1 comes around I'd be saying see you later!!!
