Imagine time-traveling you approaching you on the street in September of 2013 and tellin you that with incumbent Rookie of the Year Miguel Sano and still mega-promising Byron Buxton in the lineup, the Twins' 2016 offense would be clinging to the bat of... Eduardo Escobar.

Just joining. What are the complaints so far on Nolasco this game?

All the Twin hitters hit just like him.

The encouraging thing about Nolasco's outing so far is that he doesn't seem to be benefitting from luck or great defense, his stuff actually looks pretty dang good.   Hopefully it conitunues.

I have to admit, if someone told me before the season that Mauer, Escobar, and Nolasco would carry the team the first week I'd have said they were crazy.

Of course, they are carrying us to an 0 and 6 record, but still.

Circus Boy Update:  Circus Boy lurking.

Is it a violation of TD confidentiality policy to reveal that Circus Boy's first name is Doug?

If someone told me before the season some Twins fans still couldn't spell Mauer's name correctly after 12 years in the majors, I'd have said they were crazy :-)

Lol. I love this. Love the Farside. Miss the Farside. Gary Larson, come back to us!

1 hit over the first 4 innings, I'd say Nolasco is pitching a great game so far.

Park looks comfortable at first base.

Rosario in the 2 hole? I don't think Molitor reads TD. :)

I hope the Twins start seeing the ball better soon. After a long spring training, one would hope that the hitters would be a bit further ahead in terms of identifying balls and strikes at the very least. And secondly, making contact with fastballs over the plate.

My point wasn't that Buxton is Trout. It was that even the best hitters in the game can struggle in their first couple hundred AB's.

Trout first year: 135 PA, 22.2% SO, .247 BABIP; Trout second year: on fire!

Buxton first year: 138 PA, 31.9 % SO, .301 BABIP; Buxton second year: not as good as the first year.

Using Trout as an example doesn't make sense. It's like telling your bright kid not to worry about his bad grades because Steve Jobs didn't do well in school. There's only one Steve Jobs.

Hitting is more than athletic ability; timing, pitch recognition and a smooth swing are more important, and, while he may be a great talent, right now Buxton needs to work on all three at a developmental speed, i.e., AAA.

Yeah, my phone auto corrects to that spelling because that is how my wife's maiden name is spelled.

Its pretty annoying.

Yeah no kidding, cripes, how many times do I have to disclaim that I'm not comparing Buxton to Trout.

I was responding to a poster who was basically saying that he's a bust prospect because he has struggled out of the gate.

I go back and forth ... turn off autocorrect, get annoyed ... turn on autocorrect ... get annoyed. It's a no win situation. Hopefully unlike this game.

I agree with you. Although I think Buxton doesn't look ready now, I still think he has a great future. Perhaps a better analogy would be Rougned Odor, who started last year really bad, but had a great second half after a short interim in AAA.

Mine also.  'Tantor burns up on I-90' still makes me laugh out loud, for real.   Saw Gary in the Seattle fish market in 1992.  He was staring a giant prawn in the face, as if gauging its character during an interview for the job of being eaten.
