JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Last game before the All-Star Break …. A win today would put the Twins at 49-40 or .551. Who’d a thunk it? (Or dreamed it?) First up, the weather and line-ups:Gametime Forecast: 82°F • Mostly Cloudy • 0% PoPLooks like a perfect afternoon in the TC (its hot here). Detroit Tigers – RHP Shane Green (4-6, 5.82 ERA) – called up to make his first major league start since June 10. He gave up 22 runs in 14 2/3 innings to lose his final four outings before being demoted to Triple-A Toledo, where he was 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA in five starts (FSN Sports). 1. Ian Kinsler ® 2B2. Yoenis Cespedes ® LF3. Victor Martinez (S) DH4. J.D. Martinez ® RF5. Alex Avila (L) C6. Nick Castellanos ® 3B7. Marc Krauss (L) 1B8. Anthony Gose (L) CF9. Jose Iglesias ® SS Minnesota Twins – RHP Kyle Gibson (7-6, 3.04), tries to win four straight starts for the first time in his three-year career. He's posted a 1.74 ERA in the last three (FSN). He’s been masterful in recent games. 1. Brian Dozier ® 2B2. Torii Hunter ® RF3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B4. Miguel Sano ® DH5. Trevor Plouffe ® 3B6. Eddie Rosario (L) LF7. Aaron Hicks (S) CF8. Eric Fryer ® C9. Danny Santana (S) SS And a few thoughts: 1. Congrats to Glen Perkins and Brian Dozier. I was bummed at Ned Yost for putting Moustakas on the final ballot because it was such a set-up. But all finally worked out. May Perkins and Dozier both get to play – and play well. 2. The offense is finally heating up along with the weather. Some really solid performances – lots of confidence at the plate. So much fun to have different heroes in different games. 3. Health – the Twins have been pretty fortunate on the health front (Nolasco and Buxton excluded). The depth of the team and the farm system are really helpful. 4. Food – what will Brian attempt today? I’m offering pulled pork and Chinese Cole Slaw if anyone wants to visit NW Iowa. 5. Congrats to J.O. Berrios on his start in the futures game. Looking forward to seeing you in the show! 6. Tigers – Hold Those Tigers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8GY_ZT0kEE 7. And a last quick thought from Jon Morosi: Jon Morosi @jonmorosi · 5m5 minutes ago #Tigers are 8 or more games out of first place in July for the first time since 2005. Let's keep 'em there, Twins!!! That’s it! Enjoy the game and look for a 3-1 split.

big dog Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Absolutely no one? Not me. I try to be optimistic, and I thought .500 would be a real stretch. My goal was to finish no lower than fourth in the Central.

Jerr Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 After being at yesterday's game; I forced myself to get a ticket for today's. I want to see Gibson pitch and the Twins win again. Gonna be a hot sticky one, but it is Summer!!! I will read this thread after I return and will post my take of the game.

I need a tutorial. How do you post video so that it shows up (pictured) -- not just a link???
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I need a tutorial. How do you post video so that it shows up (pictured) -- not just a link???Heh, I already went ahead and did it for you, without asking. Here's what you do. Make sure it's a full YouTube address, not one of those .be addresses. Then surround it with "media" in square brackets in front, and "/media" in square brackets at the end. I don't think I can show you, because the posting software would try to interpret it as a video.

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Sometimes I'm clueless. It's hardly obvious. The other way to do it, which amounts to the same but is slightly automated, is to click the little green square above the area where you type content for a post (it's to the left of "Size"), and choose "Media" in that drop-down menu. Click-paste the YouTube URL into the box. This inserts the meta-code I described above. Super intuitive.

My original exposure to the song was spike jones' version, which i think was instrumental. Alas i cannot find it on the youtubes, but was pleasantly surprised by professor gizmo's version of it.And by his beany coptor. (today, lazy beats out the attaching of media as i'm still waking up.... mmm, breakfast!)

My dad had a story about his only mistake on a test once being to reverse the numerator and denominator of a fraction. The instructor (professor?) gave him a C on it. Upon inquiry, he got told if he ever came up with a probability greater than 1 again, he'd fail. Anyhow, hope the movin' stuffs go smoothly!

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Sano goes yard today......book it. How good has this kid been? Remarkable maturity at the plate, I know he'll have a down spell eventually but I don't know where anyone is going to find a consistent hole to keep attacking him. That AB where he doubled off the wall yesterday was downright Miggy like.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 With the game immanent, i figured i'd note the deviation from standard line-upage...Fryer gets the call in relief of Suzuki. How's he gonna pan out? Will he...Control the run game? Circle the bases? Call a good one? Pass the ball?(Er. Same bat time... Same bat channel)
Gibby Provisional Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 shameless bragging alert! The kids team beat the crap out of Russia and Turkey this weekend and barely squeaked by Serbia today. I had awesome HD streams of every match, and the kid is performing like the champ she is. Rio here I come.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Dark, rainy day here 230 miles north of Target Field. Good day to watch a ball game as golf looks out.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 4. Food – what will Brian attempt today? I’m offering pulled pork and Chinese Cole Slaw if anyone wants to visit NW Iowa. I did my Buttered Eggs and they were perfect once again. Melt a bunch of butter real low heat... Drop the Eggs in... Pick out the shells... Throw in Cheese... Mix it all up and they are the best scrambled eggs ever. I also tried Bacon... But I'm not doing that again. It's too hard to turn those suckers over... The grease splattering set my chest hair on fire... and they curled up into this ball. Once the smoke alarm went off... They were just plain over crispy.

My goal was to finish no lower than fourth in the Central. I just wanted them to be competitive. I just wanted them to look like a team that was turning the corner. I didn't care what the record was... I just didn't want them to beat themselves. Funny how things change... Now I care what the record is.

Ravenna is amazing, unless you hate art. And if you hate art, you are also wrong. They've got stuff here that'll knock your socks off.

Bacon does well in a 350 oven on parchment paper. The lower the temp. the less shrinkage you get.

I'm considering going to Milan in Oct and work there until March. I hated Italy my first trip, but I love it now, probably because I'm getting better with the language.

I'd go just for the Gelato
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Didn't know Torii knew that four balls out of the strike zone meant he got a free pass to first.
