I'd like to apologize. I watched the entire game up until Mauer's final at bat. Apparently I was the jinx.

You recognized the "cause and effect" just in time.

Well played sir!  Well played!!

That was a great well pitched game. Thank you MLB channel. It makes you appreciate Dick and Bert.  The Card announcers were sooooooooooooooooo boring !   :)

what a fun game! nothing like giving the fist pump at work.

I'm at work as well, earbuds in, pretending TD isn't minimized on my screen...

Is that the rally horse?

(cue someone with photoshop skilz, perhaps?)

You mean ... like this? Can you see the horse now?

Today's another example of why the pitcher "win" stat is flawed - Pelfrey had another fantastic performance and gets stuck with a no decision. Boyer did a good job getting out of jam he created for himself, but really who did more to win that game for the Twins?

I'm at work too but also sitting on my deck, having a beer, and listened to the whole Twins game. You have to learn to multi-task.

4 tough games in a row against the best team in baseball. Twins pitching went toe-to-toe with the Cardinals and gained a split.

This team may be a lot better than I thought.

An example of a non-boring comment from Bert yesterday.

They had Tyler Jay in studio, who is on his way to Fort Myers.  Bert says that Jay can rent out his house down there with his bonus money.  Dick notes that Bert has a pool.  Bert says "I may have to drain the pool after you swim in it".

I think he was implying that the guy was going to take a dump in the pool.

true, but lots of stats are flawed. sometimes a guy gets a hit on a pop fly between home plate and the mound, sometimes a tough line drive to center is scored an error (and then changed to a hit the next day). point is, it all sorta evens out ...

Had a very important "meeting" with "clients" at the "classy" not at all "dive" bar, to talk "business" and watch the game.

Best 3 hour meeting ever.

Burt was talking about what he had to do after Dick swam in his pool.

The Card color guy didn't even raise his voice or sound excited after Jason Heyward hit his home run.  Dick sounds excited when the opponent makes a loud out.    :)

When allowed to, it sorta does.

But if say the manager has a role in choosing the opportunities, then often not so much.

For instance relievers who rack up large win totals, solely because they are never brought in with a lead. Utility players who are brought in for favorable matchups. Etc.

Back in my Unix/KDE days I kept a shell script named TBIC ("The Boss Is Coming") which brought up a spreadsheet in cases of extreme emergency like this.

/ for Chief's benefit: "computer stuff, computer stuff, computer stuff".

It is 1987. Lose all of them in St. Louis, win all of them in Minneapolis.

Better make sure the AL wins the All Star game.

So you are predicting a rematch this October?  Cool.

Bring up Arcia or Sano. Vargas has been terrible.

I always like reading game threads after I know he outcome.

I know, one HR doesn't offset all of the scuffling, but it probably buys him a bit more time

OK, so DIck not Jay.  I still think it was a dump reference though.
