Trevor0333 Provisional Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 A few random people and Mientkiewicz now saying Polanco's being promoted. He obviously wouldn't go to AAA with Santana just going down there. This must be followed by Staufer/Duensing dfa. Once Arcia is back maybe we can get rid off Nunez and have a properly formed roster...
DaveTMpls Provisional Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Promoting Polanco works for me. Arcia has lost his job to Rosario.
Whammy Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 This is interesting for 2 reasons 1) as a prospect, you wouldn't expect him to be sitting on the bench much. He'll be playing regularly 2) I'm pretty sure i heard that Escobar was told something like "this is your job now. Show us you deserve it"
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Is there any confirmation of this, anywhere?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Here's what happened: After Game 1 of the Lookouts double header tonight, Max Kepler tweeted something like "Congratulations to my boy Jorge Polanco, finally promoted #bigleagueer" Or something like that. I retweeted it, and said This is interesting. Kepler soon deleted the tweet. I'm sure he was told to. Obviously the Twins can't/won't/shouldn't say anything officially until after tonight's game finishes because they may need the player that will be on the other side of this transaction.
drjim Provisional Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I'm a little bit of a skeptic on the defense (though probably no worse than Escobar), but I like rolling with talent. Perhaps a couple of his teammates should soon follow.

MileHighTwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I knew that they were not comfortable with Nunez as utility infielder, but am surprised that it is Polanco. Will be interesting to see how they use him. Guessing Dozier gets the day off tomorrow.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 If this becomes official, I'm going to be excited to see how he looks. Anyone is welcome to help spark the offense again.
DuluthFan Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 But they've announced the first half of moves before, like Milone last week, and I seem to recall Hicks a month ago. Those announcements did not occur during an in progress game. Max Kepler is not a Twins spokesperson. For all we know someone could have been playing a joke on someone else.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Those announcements did not occur during an in progress game. Actually the Milone announcement came several days prior to his call-up.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Thing I like about Jorge Polanco is his attitude. He's a positive force, a gung-ho type personality. He looks eager to play the game in all its aspects. He wants to bunt, steal, hit-and-run, etc. He looks forward to the excitement of situations, and seems to savor his own success. Danny Santana, for all his talent, does not seem to enjoy his own success so much as he finds misery in his failures. The optimist will always be a better teammate.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Unanswered is how Mientkiewicz fits in all this?
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 IF this happens, he's the everyday SS. IF. The question is, do they cut Stauffer, or Nunez? Please Stauffer. Nunez cannot seem to get any love on this site, he is a very good bench player, and he can play 3B, SS adequately and maybe 2B with having a decent bat. I'm tired of the Nunez hate.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 IF this happens, he's the everyday SS. IF. The question is, do they cut Stauffer, or Nunez?Nunez can play a couple positions on an occassional basis at an average-ish basis, can hit, pop a few XB knocks and runs OK. Stauffer........how is his ERA not at 9 or more? I mean, seriously, what appearances did I miss where he did NOT allow at least a run per IP? Seems easy to me.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Polanco promoted. Eddie Rosario placed on the paternity leave. Will miss one game.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I'm sad for Rosario. He should have waited another 15-20 years to have children and enjoyed his youth.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Polanco promoted. Eddie Rosario placed on the paternity leave. Will miss one game.So Polanco is being called up for one game???
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I hope this is more permanent than one game. This offense is stagnant, all non-essential personnel should be on notice, the Lookouts are coming, and in waves.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Someone has to play SS while Escobar takes back his rightful place in LF!
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I have a hard time believing they would call up Polanco for just one game. My guess is they keep 13 pitchers for tomorrow and cut one after the off day Thursday and keep Rosario and Polanco up. Escobar becomes the Util guy.

I'm tired of the Nunez hate.Nunez doesn't do anything well or anything even close to average(playing a "decent" 3B doesn't matter when you have an everyday guy like Plouffe) he is a disaster at SS and dozier should be playing 158+ games a 2B. he has no business being on a team competing for a division. Cut Nunez, move Escobar to Util (he actual fields decently) and make Polanco the every day SS. Once Santana gets his confidence back you cut Escobar and make Santana the Util guy (bonus points for CF ability) teams don't need multiple no hit util inf on the 25 man roster

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Put Polanco in the lead off spot tomorrow, and pull the rest of the batting order randomly from a hat.

You CANT rest Dozier in a game against the team you trail by one game for the division lead, one day before an off day anyways.

That's just me believing in the words I preach, and I am sure it is the same for you. We'll just have to leave it at that and see how it plays out.
